Hi Roy, no choice leh. I'm the type that always wants the best for my baby. i don't think i'll change once every 1k but probably between 2 - 3k after my 3k oil change. I'm a firm believer that if you treat your bike well, it'd serve you well.

I might be buying some stuff from thumpertalk's store and if you still want the CFC case savers, you can tongpang me. Just drop me a pm.

Papadum, you changed to full synthetic for the 2k oil change, does that mean you will not be changing engine oil for the next 3k~5k? If you are changing them for the next 1k km, that is not very cost efficient. Jus my opinion

Anyway, have just went for the oil change today and the clutch does feel better  . Yes, i guess i will be changing to fully synthetic but after the 3 free oil change. Just be more cost efficient as they are free anyway. A dollar save is a dollar more (in my wallet) :cheeky:

Thanks for the advice

I will change my oil (fully synthetic 10W-40) every 6000 km - as specificed in the book.

I will change the oil-filter every 12000km as specified in the book.

if i'm not wrong.. it could be $70 but he can also argue illegal mod to exhaust and that'll be a $700

My mech just showed me a FS plate DRZ400S. Asking me to buy it for $3600 (incl new chain and new bat). I cant tell whether the paintwork is just dirty or scratched :giddy:

I have never ridden scrambs before, just a super4 and ta150; but when the mech revved up the scram, it was really loud. I guess he was revving it hard but does the DRZ400 make that much noise? I know cant expect s4 quietness, but its even louder than my phantom at its bloody loudest! Is this normal?

When I asked him about MCCT to replace the ACCT, he asked me why I want to do such weird things

Anyways, just want some advice from you guys on the price and what else I should be checking for. Previous owner was a girl (sole owner) and she never did any trailing. There is even a cute little rack for a box o_O

BTW, whats the correct height for the scram? When I sat on it, I could still bend my knees slightly with both feet touching the ground (i'm 1.8m)

I would like to use it for daily commute (30km a day, mostly highway), so is there anything more in terms of maintenance I need to be aware of?

Will I also need to bring spare change of clothes when I ride on wet roads? My friend told me I will showered with mud as the fender aint going to protect me none :)

Thanks for your feedback and advice.

Wow, didn't know that fully synthetics can last that long. I was told by the mech at mah p/l to go for oil change service every 3k for my aprilia scoot back then and the oil extracted looked pretty dirty. :giddy:

For a %%% fee I come and help you check out the scramb.

The price seems reasonable.

you cannot take it that when oil is black and looks dirty means that the oil is already degraded and must be changed.

mineral oil "texture" tends to breaks down faster and sooner as compare to semi or fully syn oil. that is why mineral oil got a shorter life span and needs to change more often than semi and fully syn.

My present rides:

Honda CBR600RR8 (Black)

Yamaha FZ1N (Blue)

Mineral oil is meant for running-in engine purposes. It is used to flush out metal bits from gearbox during first few oil changes.Change to semi or fully syn oil when you doned with running-in.Cheers

Seems a reasonable price

>> I cant tell whether the paintwork is just dirty or scratched

The only metal bit is the tank (blue colour), I would think the plastics would be a bit scratched cos it is an old bike. A new set of plastics would set you back ~$400.

Should be quiet, maybe some illegal modification in the exhaust, the restrictor is taken out, or maybe the air-box modified.

>> When I asked him about MCCT to replace the ACCT, he asked me why I want to do such weird things

The MCCT is after market mod. So if not MCCT, then when you buy the bike can modify to MCCT.

1.8m you will have no problems riding a scramb

>> I would like to use it for daily commute (30km a day, mostly highway), so is there anything more in terms of maintenance I need to be aware of?

30km per day, No problemo, service every 6000km with fully syn oil. clean air-filter every 6000km. Check brake pads, wheel bearings and tyres at each service, and change the oil filter every 12000km.

>> Will I also need to bring spare change of clothes when I ride on wet roads? My friend told me I will showered with mud as the fender aint going to protect me none :)

Should be no worse than when you ride your phantom on a rainy day. I keeep one set of clothes in the office for those types of day. And buy rain-wear for $30-$100 from Chiap Lee

don't worry they take multiple shots.. that's why you pay about $200 for speeding don't speed lar kex...actually i also not sure... but last heard was it's either a video or multiple shots. and yeap from the front. 2 sometimes means they take both sides.. front and rear.

went in kulai with my new GPR pipe last nite..

my bike can hit 161km/hr with less "effort" after the pipe change and the jetting~

wheelie is much much easier than the stock pipe, just close throttle and gun it,front wheel will just lift off !

Best !

can someone enlighten me on the side effects of running on a rich or lean mixture? does it just result to foul plugs? and lastly, does the alumite coating for the forks need any care and protection? if so, what should be done to lengthen the lifespan of the forks, besides using the "fangs" to protect it?

On the contrary for me kex...

Coming from the F4 pipe, the GPR is real wimpy in terms of sound. Maybe there is a power increase maybe there isn't. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v259/foxracing/Emoticons/excuseme.gif But weight savings are definately there!

Will try it out @ PG on Thursday. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v259/foxracing/Emoticons/icon_thumright.gif
