Hi guys, I am newbie to the scram world. I will be collecting my DRZ-S soon and I was hoping you coud give me some advice on the following:

1) I will be ordering the case shields from TT and I read an excellent guide on how to put it on (somewhere in this thread). One thing I didnt get is the part about using a contact cleaner to clean the shield and the case. What is this contact cleaner?

2) Bitec doesn't have anymore MCCT. Can anyone suggest where I can get 1 locally?

3) Previous owner reduced the bike height. Now, even after my mech raised the height back, I can still put both my feet down comfortably. The seat has been cut as well, so I guess that could be the reason bike is low. Is there a "correct" height for this scram, as in whats it stock height? I am not that tall (1.8m) and I read that the stock DRZ is pretty high.

4) Chain oiler available for DRZ? My mech suggest I put on scott oiler. Anything else available?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Welcome! Fyi, Yazi of biketech 21 and ronin wants to get the CFCs as well and you might wanna contact them and share freight charges. Goes alittle easier on the pockets. I remember getting them from TT alone the last time cos i miss out on the mass order and it cost me abt 130SGD in all.

enjoy on your new ride! :goodluck:

nope, not from dirtwheel. Is cutting the seat a normal way to lower the height? Where do you guys suggest I rewrap it (if that will help). My gf says I look like I am riding a pony!

Anyways, thanks bugo and papadum for your tips

Is biketech a good place to get stuff like handguards, etc. Anywhere else to recommend?

Hope to meet some of you guys on the road. Funny thing is, during my daily ride from Bishan to Woodlands, I hardly see any scrams much less a DRZ. You all in the west and east? Heh heh, or maybe I just ride too early in the day!

n e place recommanded?

thanx in advance

Greetings Rexxer, this thread is pretty much self explainatory and has got all the info you need if you have some spare time on your hands.

Greasing can be done at Ah Biao's shop and has been highly recommended by the guys here. Other than that, i guess http://drz.info/drz/ will answer most of you queries. If you're pushing a spanking new bike outta the shop, there shouldn't be much to look out for except for the running in part i guess.

Enjoy your new ride and join us for the Sept 10 motard outing to MY.

cheers! :goodluck:

1)remove your snorkel underneath your seat to make ur bike breathe better.

2)regrease your bike at magic motowerks in toa payoh industrial park for 80 bucks.

3)get the casesaver from thumpertalk.com

4)get the APE manual cam chain tensioner(mcct) but i not sure if u can get that in sg

that's a few basic stuff la....

but...your buying spree won't stop there......it will go on and on....exhaust, slider, handlerbar, sprockets, fcr carb....etc etc

open up ur airbox cover and jus squeeze the snorkel and wiggle it out.

i didn't rejet the carb as juz only snorkel remove and not enlarged the intake hole.

guys, just a little question...is it ok to use degreaser on the excel rims? will the harsh chemical causes 'white spots' on the rims?

Been doing it since my MTB days. Preferably those with teflon. Nice lasting shine and the easier to clean. do remember not to spray directly onto the rim as you may accidentally get some onto the rotor. braking will then be compromised. i normally spray onto a cloth and wipe the rims.:thumb: there's also a cool rotor cleaning product with limefresh fragrance that i use to clean the rotors. you can get those at MTB shops.

i didn't use degreaser to clean the rim. i used Armourall multi-purpose cleaner to wipe it clean.

very good solution for removine dirt and grimes.

got it from Giant superstore at Turf City

PS..one way to check lean condition..popping on decelaration....cheers..

Contact cleaner is pretty good for cleaning brake rotors.

I use Motul wash on just about every part of my bike.

I dilute them when cleaning the rims. Just don't let any of these strong degreasers settle. Wash them off as soon as they've done the job.
