hmmm.. i think its easily for a kawa to get slicks there compared to sillypore. the front disc on the kawa looks small or is it my imagination?

yea.. to me it looks small too.. maybe coz of the many holes n the wavey shape?

y the look of it? wat abt the braking performance? looks kinda normal leh..

Bigger disc equals better stopping power, even if the calipers and brake master pump are original still.

How so.. spin a bicycle wheel and try and stop its rotation by grabbing at the hub and then by grabbing at the rim and you will understand what I mean.

Its the torque arm principle in action.

I really tried my best to comprehend but I really don't know what you are trying to ask.

You got doubts about running in the engine? Then don't run in lor... just be like me, out of the shop and next... take it to the track and whack. Max rpm on all gears.. top speed on top gear should be at least 160 KMH.

Change the engine oil and filter, take it to the track and whack again.. then change the engine oil again. Consider the bike run in already.

I cannot see the link between running in and maximising the torque or horsepower of a bike. Its pretty fixed from the factory unless you start putting aftermarket parts to your carbs, piston, block or cams and exhaust.

On the tracks, on which bike do you enjoy racing more? the CBR or the DRZ?

just curious, as they are two very different kinda bikes.

The DRZ is a better bike for beginners to learn about track riding.

I ride it the same way I would ride my CBR1000 on the track, same linings used through the corners too. I dare to use the DRZ to try later braking points and new lines... something I won't risk using the CBR. I am actually riding at the same speeds in the corners, be it on the DRZ or CBR, that's just me and I think there is a limit to how fast a corner can be taken. On the DRZ I can keep up with the bigger sports bikes in the corners, but will get murdered on the straights.

The clear cut advantage is... the DRZ is light and despite that... it handles pretty well and is very stable in the high speed corners even. Just need to dial up the suspension harder especially the rear shock springs and damping. Too soft on the rear and the back wants to step out when you bank the bike into the high speed corners.. eg PG Turn 6 and Sepang Turns 6, 7 and 8.

The plus factor about the DRZ is that you can brake very late... coz of its weight and the front forks can handle it and when you overshoot a corner... just stand up on the foot pegs and go scrambling in the gravel. I did that once before in the 5 lap race at PG when a Super 4 I was chasing lowsided coming out of the last turn in front of me. If it had been the CBR1000...... the weight of the bike would have caused me to go down in the gravel pits.

And if you overshoot the corner, its easier to pull back onto the track. Very forgiving. I use what I learn from the DRZ and apply it when riding the CBR.

And ya, I did crash on the DRZ coming out of the BMW exit whilst trying to overtake a Super Four (another one!!!!) and lowsided in the dirty stuff. Cost of repair was $19. One mirror and one signal light. The handle was easily set back by loosening the clamps and it popped back straight again. If it was the CBR... confirm

And also if I had been on the CBR .. I don't think I could have salvaged this overshoot at PG Turn One.

Haha.. you are not wrong.

For a newbie on a 2B bike... the Aprilia is the best bike. Handles like a dream... just like the CBR1000, super stable in the corners.

For someone who is more advanced then a beginner and wants to really learn how to ride faster on the track and push the limits.. I would recommend using a supermotard. Easier on the pocket.

engage your gears fully, exercise all the gears at various RPMs. Use your engine brakings.

The guide from the owner's manual is very brief. Only asking you to less than half throttle or less than 3/4 throttle if i'm not wrong.

make sure all gears are engaged fully. meaning to say, do not kick up or down your gear shifter like as though u have not eaten anything for a week. kick it hard!

make sure u do not change gear at undershift rpms. it will cause your piston to knock.

that's all.

Hey guys.I just placed a downpayment for a K7 DRZ (blue/white). Tried looking for pictures of the k7 in blue but I only saw the yellow and black ones. Went to suzukicycles.com and it only listed yellow and black as the available colours. Is it a limited edition colour?
