Hello all!

I know this question has been asked on SBF again and again, but i want to know what is the perfect 2B bike for me. I have searched through the forums, read thread after thread but i still dont have a bike in mind. I like all bikes. I even have bike related dreams. Or worse, in my dream i see myself worrying about what bike to get. I'm already worrying now. Its haunting me, i think about it everyday. I even ask my collegues and friends who have bikes and they all have their own ideas and opinions and after a while, they all seem like good bikes.

To start off, i am 1.82m and weigh in at 80Kg. This year gonna be 20 years old. When i wanted to sign up for my license, scramblers were racing across my mind. But as time passes, the bad economy looming over our heads, the constant worry of rising petrol prices and the inflation that plagues our current economic situation has led to me having so many wants and requirements in a bike.

I need a bike which is

1) Cheap to buy second hand

2) Easy maintenance

3) Low petrol consumption

4) Easy to sell off

5) Suit my size (1.82m, 80kg)

6) Looks nice

Bikes in my mind (not in order)

1) Yamaha RX-Z

2) Vespa PX150

3) Yamaha FZ150I

4) Honda CG125

5) Yamaha YBR125

6) Honda Phantom TA200

7) Yamaha Spark

8) Yamaha X1-R

9) Honda Wave

10) Bajaj Pulsar 180

I know these are alot of bikes but till now i have not really decided on what to get. I think i am the kind of person who will have the "I wanna change bike" syndrome after i get my ride. I just don't want any regrets. I already got my classes 2B and 3. But i still think that the riding is more economical, thrilling and conveinient than a car. The only downside its dangerous. I dont have much money on me as i am in NS now and i really need a bike to go to work everyday. I take 45-50 mins if i take the train to work but take only 10-15 mins if i ride. I can go back home late at night where there will be no public transport left. I also need to send my younger siblings to school now and then.

I know i am really long winded but i really need to let my frustrations out. Thanks for listening me out and helping guys. This "What bike to get" problem has been plaguing me for some time now. Sometimes i wish i had never signed up for the license. But then again i cannot stand taking public transport anymore. I even have nightmares about me panicking about what bike to get. Pathetic i know.

Please help me all. I have been told off that i am too particular and choosy about what bike to get but then again, what kind of bike determines whether my body will touch the tarmac or not. I'm willing to learn and listen to all your advices. Thank you all in advance! :)

its not the bike that determine u touch the tarmac or not. its how well u ride the bike that determines it. since cost cutting is ure main points here's my choice 4 u, get the wave. meets all ure requirement.

think every new/young biker will go thru such thinking.. i think u can consider talking to more biker friends. but honestly, at class 2B, u can't get alot of bikes that can suit your size......

but anyway, some opinions...

1) Cheap to buy second hand

2) Easy maintenance

3) Low petrol consumption

4) Easy to sell off

5) Suit my size (1.82m, 80kg)

6) Looks nice

like what Yatz86 suggested... Wave does matches majority of your criteria..

of 1) Cheap to buy second hand

2) Easy maintenance

3) Low petrol consumption

4) Easy to sell off

However, if you wanna match these

5) Suit my size (1.82m, 80kg)

6) Looks nice

I think, its either maxi scooter like X9, or Varadero 125.

sym joyride maxi scooter.

korean scooter so its Cheap.

supposedly quite reliable as sym was making engines with honda

Breeze to ride and pillion cos its auto.

windscreen with comfy seat = comfortable ride for both u and pillion.

Pickup is "better" compared to similar cc manual bike.

lots of storage space.

Looks decent.

Fc 30km/l with aggressive starts.

marginally safer on the road cos it has a bigger presence and with easy bicycle controls u can concentrate more on the road.

quite rare on 2nd hand but when it comes up its snapped up fast. got one selling now in sales thread. check it out.

After reading your post i think wat is suitable for you is Pulsar 180.

BUT!!!! If you bothered abt bike price then get a Phantom.

Try to narrow down on WAT you LIKE. And i suggest a cheap 2B for a start will be better for you since you got change bike syndromes. After owning 1 bike then you will knw wat you are looking for in your next bike.

So keep a look out for durains in the forum or bike shops. As for me if i were to change 2B out of your options will be definately Pulsar.

you can consider honda TA200 or SYM GTS 200!

good luck buddy!!

1) Cheap to buy second hand - yes

2) Easy maintenance - yes

3) Low petrol consumption - depend on riding habit

4) Easy to sell off - yes

5) Suit my size (1.82m, 80kg) - yes

6) Looks nice - yes

criteria 1-6 dun come hand in hand.. what are the few of the bikes you might want to consider:

1) phantom ta200. its almost all of what you want. looks are subjective but you can customise it to the way you like it. can visit phantom thread and see how pple mod theirs.

2) sym gts 200 scooter. you definitely won't look too big for this maxi-scooter. but 2nd hand isn't very cheap when i was looking for it, eventually i gave up. selling it might be a bit of a problem. IMO.

3) bajaj pulsar. almost everything of what you need as well. only thing is machine isn't very cheap. definitely not as cheap as phantom ta200 of the same age.

all these are my own opinions. i surf and read alot of info here before buying my 1st bike as well. i eventually bought ta200 cos machine price was the cheapest.

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

Ya exactly wat i think of also. But i think Pulsar selling off price is relatively high and easy to let go also.

Sorry if this offend you but i have to say this. Im not fat and i dun think its a good thing to say that to another person. Respect each other i hope.

oh ya maybe u can check out the Tw200. looks good man. FC not sure. but is a 4 stroke

Yup i rode TW last time 1.74 is my height. And i jack the rear until my legs have to tip toe. Its FC abt 15 i should say. But its a torquey bike and Fun bike. i should say its quite maintainence free. Cos only 1 piston 1 spark plug. Only magnet and coil not very good but still got kick starter so yea quite good for beginners. Fall all you want bike and it just keeps riding.
