All this bullcrap about taking a long time to run an engine in. Tsk tsk. So many misconceptions, so few open minds. After so many years, so much time and effort into attempting to educate the ignorant, and still the same mistakes prevail.

 

This thread never fails to disappoint. Again and again.

Hey Law, I think your riding is fine actually. You like to pick up fast and maintain your speed. Which is pretty much how I ride anyways. Though you tend to stay in the speed limit and I tend to, more often than not, exceed just that little bit more... =p

 

And yes, to quote your saying.. 'Knowledge is power. And not all knowledge is free.'

 

Oh yes, I have the Haynes manual if you want it Law.

ok new topic . . i was riding today @ 60+kmh @ gear 4 suddenly like the rpm drop to 0 , but engine stil running ( which sounds funny i noe or mayb it died juz tat the wheels R stil running), i throttle liao then like no petrol intake , i drop gear then trottle awhilte 1.5sec then got power back . . go up to 60 again i go up gear then the same thing happened . . wats wrong ???

Only a mech qualified to service an Aprilia will know how to reset the servicing mileage counter. Perhaps you took your bike to a shop who uses Malaysian mechs? Just FYI, Mah also uses Malaysian mechs.

There are 4 ways to reset the spanner icon on your bike.

 

1) Continue riding and it will go off on it's own.

 

2) Buy the Haynes manual and learn it from the manual. At the same time, getting all the additional information you need about your bike.

 

3) Meet up with me, buy me tea and I will teach you the complete sequence to resetting the spanner icon.

 

4) Drop by Xtreme motors and learn from the mech there.

 

So far, that was the only mech that knew how to reset the icon without me teaching him. Not promoting the shop in any way. He actually went to find manuals to read up on our bikes so as to do his job better.
