I forgot to change my sparkies when I swapped out the carb. Just did it during my lunch break just now. The old plug is showing me that my bike was kinda lean.

Observations on the tip of the sparkplug

1) Very light tone of brown (Greyish-brown)

2) Dry tip (abit flakey) and wet on the sides / rim (Its common to have oil deposits there)

I've put in another sparkie to try out for the night.

Idle screw set to 1500rpm (I forgot how many clockwise turns it was)

Circlip was set to the middle of the tapered needle

Mainjet is 158

Air screw set to 1 1/4 turn anti-clockwise.

1 1/2 seems abit too lean. Power delivery was there and it was scary when the needle refuse to drop below 2k rpm at the traffic light.

I'll post more pics tomorrow after an evening / a night with this setting

As of now, I'm contemplating on moving the circlip down 1 notch and see how it goes.

I'm really not interested in dyno anymore but if you really must know, I'd happily do it if you sponsor the 2 dynos.

We can have a bet. Dinner at Morton's Steakhouse.

Before tune-up (sorry cant post here):

High field - my bike pushes 28bhp or more at the crank (stock Boyeson reeds, 34mm carb, Arrow)

Low field - less than 22bhp

After tune-up:

High field - puts out an increase of 3bhp or more than before tune-up

Low field - less than 3bhp increase

:D how? :D

If the bet is on. i would like to make a bet too. :deal:

Yes ... Too low, engine easily die off at traffic junction. Too high, waste petrol.

You can go direct to ANDA to apply. Usually, AXA insurance is the cheapest.

Yes there are, but u will have to source for them.

Adjusting idling screw will not alter any improvement over engine performance. It just pushing the height of the carb slighter to its desire opening. 2-stroke engine is sensitive to change in ambience temperature, engine idling change in day & night, it is common, no issue at all.

Did you take out the plug after normal riding or you do a plug choke? If it is after normal riding, it is dangerous if you push harder and a bit long in time. You may want to lift up your needle jet position one step and check again. You can only do it step by step, don't just change everything. It will cause you no base line to work on.

hi guys, called around all the insurance agency and asked for quote... it seems many of them have an age limit on insuring a sports bike which is quite a common fact but just now I called WTT insurance agency which is under Mitsui Insurance and I learn a new fact that they can insure any sports bike of any makes but not Aprilia ? lol...

I guess I only left with NTUC haha... or anyone has other agency to reckon? I am 19 this year btw

Posted

I am 36 and my insurance was smooth and also low :)

The reason why insurance companies won't accept or charge high premium is because they believe 19 yrs old + sport bike = trouble waiting to happen. Not saying you bro but i do encounter alot of riders on the road and most of the younger one are reckless.

anyone can answer my questions?

is the no power valve version of rs125 comes with rpm meter till 12k rpm only? and the one with the power valve comes with 14k rpm meters?

Posted

i compared the pictures online liao... but the rpm meter for the 1999 to 2005 models are till 14k rpm..... but for the new rs125 06-09 it is till 12k rpm only... does it mean that all the new rs125 is without the powervalve?
