Aprilia Riders

Cant start mi bike of the second time this wk.... on thursday went to shop the mech check2... mi carb. got water inside.... when clear n oil it.... was okay already.... todae it happen again... cant start.... Realli unhappy.... 15bucks gone... so i dun want to waste money on same thing... What might b the prob??? n i look him do very easy.... but yet to try it....

so anywhere to get a manifold?mine like dried and crack liaoz..very sad..cos now bike like no power like that..80km/h about 6.5k rev..used to be 6k..

 

then gear 1 always die..sad sad sad..

Are you sure the problem doesn't lie with the clutch? The symptoms you described are common with a worn-out and slipping clutch.

Hey dudes! I've finally gotten my bike back! And it feels great to ride again!

 

Guys, just wanna check something out - If I were to get those Boyensen reeds, will they be able to cure my bike of the inconsistent boost in power?

 

The problem I am facing now is that sometimes, the engine rev is low, then it simply raises quicker than usual..... Macam clogged or something.

 

Also, my speedo ain't workin' no more. Anyone got leads on where I can find a 2nd hand, and cheap one?

I think xxes123 mentioned the Boyensen reed valves in effervescence's case because his guess is that the the drop in power is due to a worn out reed valve. Rather than replace the stock reed valve, xxes123 is suggesting an aftermarket one - the Boyensen - which, like others such as the Vforce reed, not only last longer than stock but also produces more power with better throttle response.

 

The problem might not be the valve, however, as I suggested in my previous post. It could be the clutch, or even the carburetor. So in your case, you'll have to do a bit more diagnostic work before you'll know if replacement reeds are the answer for you.

 

For instance, when do the revs rise faster than usual after starting low? At high speed or low speed? Early clutch slip symptoms are more apparent at high speeds.

 

As for your speedo: It could be the cable, which is easy and cheap to replace. If it's the motor, you might not want to bother. lacrimosae, kink and I are installing digital speedos on our bikes, which should not only be cheaper, but more accurate than the stock speedo. If you're interested in getting one too, PM me or lacrimosae.

Heheh, I seriously doubt anyone here can give you an accurate answer to that question. How many of us have both types of reed valves to compare? And if we compare different bikes, even those with the same mods will be carbureted differently. Your best best is to check out the specs at the respective manufacturers' websites and decide for yourself. As far as I know, Vforce is usually priced with both reeds and valve cage, whereas Boyensen is usually priced for just the reeds. This helps account for the big price differences. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

 

For what it's worth, I'm using the Vforce (reed and cage) and am very happy with it in comparison to a stock bike.

given a choice between vforce $ 300 and $30+boyensan reed valve , i rather choose $30 boyensan... use the remaining for arrow and k&n filter... more worth it,

even if u use vforce but other parts still restricted ,the difference is not very big its only waste of $$$...

umm dave, the manifold is made of very tough material.. even when cracks seem to appear on the external, doesn't mean that the manifold is leaking.. to confirm this ya shud take out the manifold and check the eternal..

 

and andrew is right.. is ya speed is not moving tally with ya usual rpm or sometimes when the rpm moves up but the speed doesn't increase.. most probably ya clutch is worn..

becareful when going to JB for petrol....esp for those buying ansd smoking their 1 stick under the over head bridge shop on the way back, i believe all JB regulars would already know this chinese guy begging for $$ ,alway say chinese should help chinese etc... i and my friend tell him fook off ,saying we student no money, he later take out a Syringe say he is HIV+ why wan waste ur life over rm2-3... my friend tulan take helment wan whack him, then he run away.... try avoiding this particular shop after 1 am ..

i have been taking good care of my bike.. even thou that might not justify a high price..

the exhaust and enormous carb will go with the bike if the buyer is willing to pay for it..

but i still wanna find a good price for my bike..
