Ipoh

Ipoh Downtown Hotel very the good. New new clean clean with basement car park. The car park sliding gate is always closed. Need car/bike must ask security guard to open. Very safe.

Morning went for Foshan Tim Sum just behind the Hotel. Then noticed got may massage parlor near Hotel Excelsior.

Tried BlueBerry... which is similar to Reborn. Traditional without hanky panky. 1 hour foot massage at RM30 only. 1 hour body at RM50.

After that, they recommended me to Try Lou Wong Bean Sprout Chicken. Wah! This one must try if you ever come Ipoh (probably detour a bit for lunch during Oct Penang Trip????). I don't usually eat Hor Fun or one full plate of bean sprout but theirs was superly nice. The chicken also not bad.

As a result, I didn't detour to Simpang Pulai to play corner and eat ice cream. Not enough time. Next time...

Will post picture when I'm back.

 

Genting

Wah, Monday very empty here. Goody.

They even gave me a Mountain View Room when I asked.

No movie... Wolverine watched liao in Ipoh (not so nice... and all girls got small buns). Will be watching a scary cartoon called Imaginearum. EEck.

 

Tomorrow morning will leave for Kuantan recce. Never tried the whole Karak Highway before.

Will mind map the route and check the hotel. Description in Agoda.com and Booking.com not very clear. Grand City got 2 buildings... must book the correct one later.

Coming back via route 3.

any claims of additives being able to increase horsepower and/or torque of an engine should be treated with a chunk of salt.

 

i have used various fuel cleaners (e.g. FP60, STP injector cleaner) and oil additives (e.g. STP, molybdenum oil additives) and have experience some improvements in bike's responses/pickups. such products mainly aim to optimise (not increase) an internal combustion engine's performance via "cleaner" combustion and reducing energy loss caused by friction and/or leakage.

to really increase an engine/bike's horsepower and torque, changes needs to be made to the SYSTEM (hardware and software), e.g. increasing cylinder volume, compression ratio, transmission setups, etc. (see tech corner post #58).

 

the newer your bike/engine, the less effect you'll get from these additives as compared to older engines that are more likely to be dirty and/or "loose". if you're already using high grade synthetic oils (all of them are formulated with friction reducing agents) in your young engine, my recommendation is, "save the bucks for better stuffs".

 

consider this... can we say an engine's rated horsepower is increased just because we get better response by using higher octane fuel? no right?

however, it is not uncommon that marketing people intentionally or unintentionally misuse the terms horsepower and torque; though most will still claim that their magic oils can improve horsepower and torque.

well, many of them may not know what horsepower or torque actually are

 

horsepower and torque characteristics of each bike are very different, and they don't go hand in hand... see illustration below

notice that torque drops after a certain rpm while power continues to rise before finally dropping.

 

as some layman would put it... a big torque is good for moving off from stationary (pulling dead-weight), a big horsepower is needed to go real fast
