Hagon shocks can only order from online via wemoto. *Not sure of other sites.

It'll cost $380+ upwards depending on exchange rates.

Not sure how much confusehaha is selling his spare set.

Do note that the stock set is selling at $460 (old 600cc type, not recommended due to poor compression setting and spring rate) or $560++ (FJS and SW-T type, softer. Higher cost due to import on request).

SW is certainly worth renewing COE, especially when it is still in good condition :thumb:

Question is, how much to pay for the PQP... any "choice"?

Unfortunately, motorcycle PQP is at all time high now... due to shrinking quota and big spike due to moto dealers' frantic buying of COE to clear their soon to be non emission compliant stocks; new emission standard for motorcycles come 1st Oct this year require Euro III. Bad news is, most of existing stocks are only Euro I compliant. NEA and LTA has yet to make any announcement on whether they will consider Singapore Motorcycle Trade Association's appeal to delay the "cutover" to 2015.

Suppose COE prices are really based on demand and supply, my guess is COE prices (thus PQP) may return to 2+k zones after Oct this year, when the pressure to clear on-hand stocks is gone, provided LTA don't cut the bike quota further.

If COE is due after Oct, it may be worth waiting and hope that prices really return.

If COE is due this month, then no choice lo :(

p/s: yours is 05 bike, means COE due next year? my recommendation is wait and see

Heard OTR for new SW-T was $18k.

Is it worth renewing $4k++? Will go up since they've just reduced the COE allocation again.

10 years... its about time the timing chain, tensioner, piston rings, wiring, etc would require some attention, yah?

Hmm... cannot decide.

For sw brakepad, everfit or ah boy has it. I took the sbs brand. Best is to replace it near to their doorstep. If can't fit can immediately change it.

Hi guys. Newcomer here humbly seeking opinions from seasoned riders.

I'm upgrading from a 2B, looking for a 2A that is good for touring 2-up. Pillion's comfort, luggage space and FC are important. Looks are secondary.

From these forums, I've arrived at the Honda Silverwing and the Suzuki Burgman 400.

I like the Burgman for the largest under-seat luggage there is. I also think the 12V "cigarette" socket is important. But the Burgman community doesn't seem very lively, so I'm worried about expensive upkeep (smaller market means less available parts and servicing).

But I keep hearing positive stuff about the Silverwing as well. 2 cylinders means smoother ride, Honda dealer network makes it easy to find parts/servicing. But it has a slightly smaller under-seat luggage (than Burgman) and doesn't have a 12V "cigarette" socket.

Anyone has any opinions, either way?

hi there, hope my comments could be useful to your considerations whether to get the SW or Burgman

* SW's 55L under-seat storage isn't the largest (smaller than Burgman), but it can fit lots of stuffs if you pack them properly. additional storage comes from top boxes and detachable carriers between the legs (above the fuel cap). e.g. with a givi maxia on my FJS400, i have a total of abt 110L of storage, including the approx. 3L left glove compartment (SWT's glove compartment is smaller).

* 12V cigarette socket comes with the FJS but it can be easily added onto the SWT or Burgman. all you need to do is know who to look for and... pay a little, no issue.

* not sure about the Burgman, the SW's maintenance costs are rather reasonable, mainly spend on wear and tear instead of rectifying/repairs. e.g. our 3-in-1 (rollers, belt and u-shoes) costs $230+/- (less if DIY), pair of tyres costs around $180+/-, etc.

some say SW uses "old tech", but the proven old tech CVT makes it simple to troubleshoot and maintain. it's simple enough that some SWingers do their own maintenance.

* speed wise, i would say the SW can tour comfortably in much excess of the 110 km/h speed limit along NSHW without overly stressing the engine. if you come for kopi and ask the touring kakis, they'll tell you more about how SW9000 let pp smell smoke

* range/FC depends a lot on riding pattern. my FJS clocks around 24km/L (into reserve around 280~290km) in SG (solo and mostly highways) but around 21km/L during tour (due to much higher speeds). max i range tried in SG was 406km, have to push bike then :(

SWT does about similar but JDM drinks a lot more. btw, SW's fuel tank is 16L (4L reserve), few litres bigger than Burgman.

but of course, prerequisite is that the SW has to be well maintained

* pickup wise, SW should be behind the Burger, mainly due to its ¼ tonne weight (think SW is ~20kg heavier) and parallel twin engine.

basically, the SW is no perfect bike and there isn't such a thing in the market... just one that suits a riders needs, preference and taste.

you can read a lot more about the SW at our Tech Corner:

Silverwing 400cc / 600cc Tech Corner

you may also wanna join us for kopi (we meet every Thurs at Rail Mall) and ask our kakis for first hand info, think there're ex-Burgman 400 owners inside. one of them is currently riding the Burgman 650.

scoobydoo, that is some great info there. Thanks!

I've been reading the Tech Corner writeups - that alone is the strongest swaying factor for me, in the war between SW and Burgman. The availability of self-help documentation is vital. Yourself, SW9000 and all the other contributing authors are a great help.

If I wanted to get a first-hand SW, do you recommend the FJS400 or the SWT?

I think u can only get SWT for first hand. No more fjs first hand.

brand new FJS400 no longer available in Singapore market, BS only bring in SWT-400. 600cc all parallel import, if you can get :p

remember to check out the various authorised dealers and bargain harrrd... suspect the dealers might give some discounts since existing stock of SWT may not qualify for registration in SG come 1st Oct 2014. not sure but i think existing SWT's emission standard is Euro I.
