hi 70boleh, welcome to the SW community ... hope you'll enjoy your brand new SWT and feel the 4 months of waiting is worth it

our kopi sessions at Rail Mall Coffee Bean (aka CB Clubhouse) on Thursdays, 7+ to 9+pm. no fixed time cos some will be there as early as 6pm for massage and makan :p

i find the claim that LTA would issue a fine for "wrongly mounted" IU weird, cos the IU isn't a compulsory item. some big/reputable motortiams sell new bikes without IUs, and it's not even in the vehicle inspection checklist. according to BP, we don't even need to buy/mount IU if not using the bike pass any ERP gantry at all, ERP parking can insert cash card like those malaysian cars/bikes. i've seen riders who don't carry/mount their IU around, using connection plugs for to connect their removable IUs to the bike as and when required. imo, the mech smoke you cos mounting it inside the glove compartment needs more effort and time. but most of us install IU for the convenience and daily needs, ERP here there everywhere :p

another thing with IU ... you may wanna consider is Motopay-DBS (http://www.motorpay.com.sg), especially if you need to pay ERP gantries everyday like me and don't mind paying a smallish fee of $1.07/month. with that, no need to worry about forgetting to put cash card inside IU, simply ride (or drive) through any ERP gantry and the charges will be automatically charged to the designated credit card. very convenient.

Thanks Bro Scooby for the warm welcome!

Sorry took so long to reply, had been busy with my newborn, just got back to work, so got time to log-in and reply.

Think you are right about the workshop mechanic being lazy with the IU. I'm still running-in the bike. 1st hand experience is that the bike is super heavy and long. Not easy to put on main stand or park in corner lots...slowly getting used to it.

congrats on your new born ... i'll be going thru the same thingy when my boy arrives in few months time

yup, the SW is the heaviest and longest class 2A maxi around and it takes a bit of getting used to. but once that's over, you'll really enjoy cruising on it with its very smooth and quiet engine. best thing is, the ride stays smooth and reliable even after many years, if it's properly maintained.

on the meantime ... enjoy the ride and stay safe ya :thumb:

Original old model MCT should be about $460 a pair from FJT.

New SW-T MFT model should be about $570 a pair. * Could be cheaper now, I'm not sure.

Aftermarket Hagon is about $380. Go for this.

Yes. Hagon is a bit harder. With less sag resulting in slightly higher seat height.

Bro if u wanna get rear stock count me in ;p

it's better to order on individual basis to save on GST ...

if we buy 1 unit from Wemoto at GBP 180+ (include shipping, VAT deducted), that's already around S$380+ which is very near to cross the S$400 "GST barrier".

suppose we buy 2 units at $380 each, GST amount works out to be about $54 ... unless there's substantial savings in shipping, probably better to buy 1 at a time and have it shipped to desired location (or directly to workshop?).

http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/honda/fjs_400_silverwing_a9_d9/09/picture/rear_hagon_scooter_shocks/

Goods that are imported into Singapore by parcel post through ordinary mail or speedpost (e.g. for goods that are purchased online) are subject to GST. It applies to all new articles, personal articles, souvenirs, gifts, food preparations and dutiable products.

The amount of GST payable is computed based on the CIF value (cost, insurance and freight) of the goods plus all duties payable. The postage paid for the goods can be taken as freight and insurance charges.

However, GST need not be paid for the goods (except for dutiable products) if the CIF value is not more than S$400. Where the CIF value is more than S$400, the entire sum will be subject to GST.

Hi Silverwing Riders, I owned a SWT400 for 1 year 1 month. Noticed that the rear tyre is uneven. Thinking of changing it. Can anyone advice me which brand is better for SWT400 and why is it so the rear tyre become uneven. How to prevent future happening. Thanks in advance.

there is no fixed pattern for wear and tear to tyres... lots of factors affect how the rubber (or tread) of a tyre gets "makan" over use/time. road conditions, path taken, rider's pattern, air pressure, etc.

a good example or common cause to uneven wearing is going up-n-down MSCP. clockwise up, clockwise down... the right side of the tyre gets more abrasion with the ground, naturally that side gets worn out faster.

when i was riding my SW regularly, i give my SW a set of new shoes every year (approximately 25k km). that's something i won't try to save on, for safety and comfort. your tyres are already 1+ years, uneven wearing is probably normal.

why rear tyre wears off faster? becos SW is backside heavy, higher down weight/force on the tyres, faster wear-n-tear lo.

try rubbing an eraser the floor gently, and then rubbing it hard... you'll see that the latter eats out your eraser much faster.

don't think it's possible to prevent uneven wearing, unless you can ride straight and on flat even ground all the time... not quite possible right :p

commonly used and tested tyres for SW are the pirelli diablo scoot, and metzeler feel free... in order of popularity.

ride safe ya ... may the force be with you

Thanks Scoobydoo for the reply. My mileage on my SW is 14k. I will look up for pirelli diablo. BTW, what is the cost for rear tyre and cost of a set of front and rear? Thanks.
