Hi guys,

Needed some advise as to buy fazer 1000 or tmax 500? anyone own both of these bike before. I'm thinking of getting a bike with storage, comfort and speed. Hope to get some advise from here.

which bike is more costly in terms of maintenance and insurance. hopefully the price differences is not big.

Fazer 1000= Fazer is definitely faster than tmax, but dont have underseat storage. you need install box for fazer if u need storage. comfort definiteley not as good as tmax. when u travel TPE u will feel engine very hot compare to tmax NO HOT at all. Tmax auto gear u dont have to kick like siao when traffic jam . road tax and insurance aslo expensiver than tmax cos fazer 1000cc and Tmax only 500cc nia. When come to maintenance i think both bike are equally expensive.

One last thing to note, spare parts for tmax is a bit hard to get compare to fazer which is anytime easily to access.

had a 06FZ1S b4 i got the tmax, both bike i had box on them, maintenance is abt the same but i think tmax cost more due to the need to change belt around 20k mileage...

but i kindof miss the speed of fz1 when i go NSH....others had to wait 4 mi on the highway when i;m ont the tmax....

fuuuu order from shop or website? i have tried looking at websites but nothing turns up from google.

Bro, you can buy it from ebay... :) but not advisable if you travel to malaysia cause the light throw is really straight and not wide angle.

Is it true that Tmax530 only can display odometer in miles?

Was told by a shop that all HL Tmax530 are UK models, displaying only in miles..

outer reading in miles, inner reading in kmph. But all the distance measured eg tripA or tripB is measured in Miles. You have to multiply 1.6 to change to km reading urself. quite leychet but what can we do unless u order a kilo meter reading meters . for my case i bought a kilometers reading instead of miles from hongleong on the first few mth after i bought my tmax 500cc .

The new 530 is a good reason to buy back a Tmax..!!

After seeing my friend rode a white one outta shop yesterday, I'm very tempted..

I need a second bike badly, racking too much mileage on my Tenere already..

Hi guys, just wanna share that my 6mths old 2011 tmax fuel pump has finally died on me like many of the bros here experienced. Went down to AC Motors to have it fixed. Met Ah Choong. Quite a friendly chap, explained in detail what actually went wrong and what he did to rectify the problem. If any of you guys would face the same issue *touch wood* can go to him! :thumb:

He installed a 06 model's tmax fuel pump (but its new) in exchange for the faulty one. He explained that old model's fuel pump do not have this problem. And pple who changed it has not went back to him since.

What i experienced is either, once your petrol runs low (or half tank which i encountered) and you do not hear the normal "fuel pump sound" when you turn the ignition on, or after starting the fuel pump area is producing abnormal loud sound, well its time to have it fixed before you get stuck in the middle of nowhere trying to start the bike. I had abit of frustration a couple of times before i have it changed. :cheeky:
