Hi OMD,

As your bike does not have an Engine Guard, you are using those Slliders why don't you fix up a belly pan- it gives a more sport bikes look..! and at the same it shows the engine and cover only the lower small part of the exhaust bends.

Spray the belly pan to your bikes' tone...:lovestruck:

I have told the workshop to get for me, Those fibreglass S4 belly pans but -I'm in a tuck-of-war whether to put and remove the engine guards or leave it as it is...!

Any suggestions bro!

SilverGhost,

Come to think of it, it might be a good idea. The belly pan, does it fit snugly without much modification? Any photos of how the thing look like?

Hi OMD,

the workshop have tried a belly pan from a S4 bike which was servicing there! On my bike it fits- need to make small modification on the mounting brackets to fit it only..and I need to remove my engine guards.. :weep:

I have already check it with motoworld whether there is a belly pan for XJ9 in the European market...they have checked!-so far no!!

So I think of S4 belly pans..

So I'm still thinking of it ??

Hi Sun.......

My choke is being locked by the factory. Some how they barred me from using the choke.I never believe in choke.Even my last CB1000, I've never used choke.Same as my other pre-owned bike As SG informed you that when cold start, hold the throttle for a few sec.Anyway Yamaha XJ9 shaft was proven by touring the world at 250 000 km by a Dutch couple with no problem....... :thumb:

Hi Haroze,

Tks. So I suppose u're still not using the choke up till now.

My div need to crank for at least 2-3 secs, twist trottle then broommmm......can start but heart pain pain bcos it's not gd to rev when there's no engine oil yet. No choice leh....if not cannot start. Then I got to hold in fact more than 15 secs (can't recall how long I hold), if not, the engine will die off. Sigh....don't know why.

Hi Sun,

(for non-choke use) You need to hold/turn the throttle one quarter 1/4 then depress the starter switch- once start, control the rev between 1000 to 1500rpm...!

And still you having problems with that, then! -it is advisable for you to use the choke- well Kevin have already explained how!!

Pull the choke down to almost three quarter 3/4 and depress the starter switch, once starts push the choke back to 1/4 one-quarter position and let it warm up till the bike can manage by itself...then push back the choke to its original position.

BTW-what type of fuel are you using??? I've tried octane-92 about starting it's a bit of problem takes few clicking of the starter (the same problem as you face), octane-95 I need to hold the throttle for about a few seconds and for the octane-98 I can start without much activities.

SOS! Just discovered that some exhaust fumes are coming out from the gasket area. Is this normal? Though it did not affect the ride but I'm very curious as to why. :giddy:

Hi Casper,

Check all the exhaust head nuts are they tightened or any nuts become loosen! or you may have some road tar/dirt thrown by the front wheel on your engine..!

If you are not sure bring your bike to your workshop or H L and let them- check it out.

Ah Nick,

As you said you are more interested in a bike with a shaft driven and side panniers..!

In that case you should go for Honda-shadow 750 "05" model it has a shaft drive and as for the side panniers you can add on the givi wing racks ..

Others are BMw.. or you can get a 2nd hand ST11..by length and width almost same as diversion only the weight make the difference if you can handle it! that can be a bike for you..still can find around at some bike shops..

Silverghost..o_O

A shodow is an entirely different class of bike. The ST is more comparable. However, insurance premiums and roadtax prices are quite a big difference. Not to mention the maintenance. I think why many ppl choose the Divvy over the ST11 is maintenance cost.

I'm also considering between these 2 bikes and the Vara. Just waiting for my license then will decide later...

Hi SG

Currently I'm using 95. I actually prefer to use the choke bcos once it start, I don't have to stand holding on to the throttle. So while waiting, I can fold up the bike cover, keep it inside the box & get myself ready for the ride. Then again, I'll check out my stuck choke 1st. Tks for the advise.

Remember u told me to change the fork oil to medium? I've not done that yet bcos I'm very busy. I've not even clean up the bike yet. When I apply the front brakes, I can feel it jerking. It's not a smooth braking like my s4. I'm not sure if it's the brake pads or the fork oil or the fork suspension. The feeling it's difficult to describe.

From your previous posting, u advise using wd40 to clean the exhaust. The last time I use wd40 is when I clean my s4 chain with it. The next thing I saw was rust. So jus wanna confirm that wd40 will not affect the exhaust.

Hi Guys,

I went to biketech21 yesterday. Of course I enquire abt the super flip up screen. They told me I'm going to wait long long time bcos there is no demand for it. After talking to them further, then I realise why wait long long time. It's bcos they do not intend to bring it in bcos it's not cost effective for them to bring it in. So it's actually they don't want to bring in not the shipment will take time....sigh. Anyone still wanna upgrade their screens? Maybe we can order a few pieces so that there'll be "demand" for it for the to bring in?

I actually email Ermax asking for the price & shipment instead of approaching Motorworld. I was quoted £73.36p (GBP) and the carraige from UK to singapore would be £30.00p. The screen is + 10cm over standard screen.

I checkout GIVI. I was quoted $180 for a height of 52cm.

Sigh.....seems like no more tall wind screen liao.....

Wah you all rellie siao sia 86 pages...

Anyway its been a long long long long long time since I hung out with fellow bikers liao, reason is cos I'm currently involved in a startup with some friends working no day no nite haha (and earning super peanuts). Also I'm also studying part-time (though quite bochup haha). That's why totally no time... Amazingly pple still recognise me on my bike

Other than time, expenses are real tight and I don't think I can afford a touring trip, but kopitiam gathering still ok lah haha.

If need be, I might be even selling my beloved divvy...

I see quite a few interested parties here, do look out for my ads :), and dun expect a low mileage, underused bike from me ;)

And to those who are considering, apart from all those good stuffs the rest of the members have mentioned, to me it is a very nice bike for DIY maintenance. I rarely visit bike shops for anything.

Not to mention usuals like engine oil, spark plugs (real easy to access, no need to remove any part of the bike), shaft oil, I also change my own brake pads, brake fluid, carb sync, etc. I even have the full mechanics manual photostated lol. Lots of money have been saved and the oni thing I do at bike shop is pay instalment. The bike has an extremely classic design that makes everything simple to do. There's even no coolant to worry about.

It will be your most worry-free bike during your thailand rides and such. Just enjoy the ride, nothing will happen to the bike.

Hey sun,

i just collected my Ermax light smoke windscreen yesterday. It cost me $150 in all with installation. I ordered it a month ago from Motoworld and they gave me a call yesterday to go collect it. :cheer:

If you dun mind Ermax, thats the price that i paid. :cheeky:

Cheers
