Hi,

i'd like to find out if bikes used in motogp/racing are like the regular r1 or cbr1000rr. In terms of the speed and hp. cause motogp bikes can reach 100km/h within gear 2 right? just wondering if the normal ones on our roads can.

Those 1,000cc bikes on the road will also be able to reach 100km/h if I'm not wrong. But the MotoGP bikes are definitely not the same as those you see on the road in Singapore. I guess the R&D and technology in the bikes are more advanced, and of course the exhaust system is different too. Just my guess, hope the pros can shed more light on this.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motogp

Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix is the premier championship of motorcycle road racing currently divided into three distinct classes: 125cc, 250cc and MotoGP. Grand prix motorcycles are purpose-built racing machines that are neither available for general purchase nor can be legitimately ridden on public roads; this contrasts with the various production categories of racing, such as the Superbike World Championship, that feature modified versions of road-going motorcycles available to the public.

That is why you see Yamaha YZR-M1s and Suzuki GSV-Rs instead of YZF-R1a and GSX-Rs on MotoGP.

One of the rules for a MotoGP bike to be eligible is that the core technology cannot be present on standard production bikes.

SBK has an opposite rule where a certain number of production bikes must be on the road before it qualifies.

Of course, some manufacturers loops around this rule, as in the Yamaha YZF-R7, where only 500 exists in the world, just for the sake to make it eligible to race in SBK.

i guess the 3 million usd all goes to the technology..........in reality......there is no similarity to our production bike with their race bikes.........the weight, the gears, the blocks, the shocks the brakes and the list goes on........the technology they use currently in the Motogp is like 10 years in difference......all the essential equipment have data loggers which they use to fine tune the race bikes...its not there for no reason......all the parts are customize specific for each team..........and when they say your production bike has the technology of the Motogp is just to market the things......just for example slipper clutch in R1.......its recently just came out but the technology was used in GP many years before...and the standard issue production slipper clutch is like the lowest end in the market but it still serves it purpose but u want it better u need to upgrade........to should i say STM or whatever........so its neva right to compare the race bikes with production bikes.........

i knew abt this when i read the news regarding Kawasaki pulling out from motogp few months back.bcoz of the economy was really bad and Kawasaki factory team decided nt to enter the motogp 2009 season.the news quote $3 million US to fully produce a bike which Kawasaki tot it was too much to handle.but kawasaki gave their bikes to one of the new teams in the motogp.forgot the team name but their bikes r black in colour if im nt wrong. :)

If im nt wrong bro, they should have all race parts from bearings to wheels or advanced exhausts.....the best part i suspect is that since they can hit near their top maybe 280++ in 700m, i reckon they should have race gearbox....which most bikes 2day are without.....furthurmore, the power deliverance from the valves or injection is pure high torque & bhp....i mean no "dip" in between & u should be able to whack the throttle even on last gear....the RPM will still rise as its like on a lower gear!:cheeky:
