Save your money....buy one here in CA. Cheaper than the 1098 even over here at USD$15k for the 1000cc. The 800cc is even cheaper at USD$11k I think....read about it on bay area forum.

Come come, faster lah.....I'm waiting!

Wanna track the HM, you could...just have to remove those blings (turn signals with mirrors or is it mirrors with turn signals?), put on axel sliders, you are good to go....motards are supposed to be hardy, if they really comes from dirtbike family.

Er, Duc got dirtbike?

Hilary,

SF/CA

NoLogicOne,

It's looking more likely I'll be heading your way. So I guess it's time to put the Multistrada back up for sale here and decide whether I want to thrash a Hypermotard or a real motard in California.

I think there are some motard groups in SF that head out for various small tracks. Sounds like the cost-effective thing to do.

Anyhow, I think the real deal for California is a a dual sport that you can take to Baja or wherever. You know, get away from the cagers and ticket-happy LEOs!

Aye John!

Ha, you mention "cagers", now's that's Californian talking here  Be it Duc HM or not, or even if it's a Motard in any case, we are the same....just that I'm not sure we will be grouped under the Gear Nazis or Freedom Riders

So many things are similiar here to SG, but my view is that, the main difference is the weather. It's so cooling here that I would put on my gears when I ride, instead of the casual Jeans and Tees back home in SG.

I'm settling on a motard. IF you love the Multistrada, you could have it tweaked into a dual sports twins for track and road. There are some races which they choose Multistrada as their weapon of choice :thumb:

Seeya!!! I will stay away from Duc for awhile....

Hilary.

Nothing is wrong with the handlebars. Basically I like the look of the original handle bars better. When I bought the bike it came with the cyclecat bars and I heard that they cost a bomb...very adjustable and stuff but they are very wide and I prefer the narrowness of the original setup.

Anyone?

Hi all ohlins forks are sold by sporting only. cost around 3800 includig triple clamp.

STM slipper clutch can use stock plates singapore shop will tell you cannot but I checked with some dealers I met in states and they say no problem, just as long as the stack hight is right. billet braether is just a better looking breather valve for the engine oil. original one leaks and cracks cos near the headers

Does Minerva sells Billet Breather?

Billet Breather? You mean the strange looking thing on the top of the crankcase above the clutch? If it is then I have seen a STM one for sale at Minera. Not so sure about the price though.

Why you need the Billet Breather? Yours was stolen? Yup, STM carries them, which I suggest you try Sporting Motor. On the net, there's a few companies that make them too.

i guess minerva? FILA sells ducati branded merchandise, includ, clothing and shoes etc...

Fila no longer carry Ducati apparel anymore when they stop sponsoring WSBK and Xerox took over 2 yrs ago. I was looking for a particular waist pouch but it's gone forever.

You could try http://www.motogp.com for the official merchadise. I know I could get AMA official Tees here in USA, but this yr Duc are not in AMA, maybe next yr once AMA allows 1098.

I'm into "pimp my ride" mode...anything to suggest that will cosmetically enhance my ride, the paintwork also getting old oredi. Any idea whether the new 1098s rims will fit a 996.

bcoz the 749r compared to the 749 have slipper clutch le...n also kind of look better. btw i dodn't mind the 749 also. uhave any idea how much it would cost me. 749 is just nice a cc unlike the 999, to much power le. wat u suggest?

Depends on what kind of riding you do.

If you're not into track riding, then the 999 would be a better all round streetbike. You gotta wring the 749 and ride it hard to make sense out of it.

ok that makes sense . but 749 is like a middleweight, unlike a 999, its kind of a bit too big for me. wat bout the price difference? btw i do intend to start track riding although i have tried only once and it was kind of exciting.

Posted

Dimentions wise, the 749 and 999 are exactly the same. The 749 might be lighter by a few kg, but what you get is a lighter engine, which translates to less gyroscopic mass, so the bike is more agile.

The 749/999 by nature is a very stable bike, so it can be alittle hard to flick into corners.

As for track riding, if you're not used to reving close to redline exiting corners, then you'll find the 999 a much easier tool to learn because of its much wider torque spread.

Having learnt track riding from scratch on the 999, I don't think theres a better tool to inspire confidence. However, after clocking my best timing and revving the bike not even halfway close to redline (I never exceeded 8000rpms), my next sportbike would be a 600 or a middleweight twin.

Hope this helps.

bro, i dono whether the 749r comes with slipper clutch or not but my advice to you is before you jump into the ducati bandwagon, get to understand the cost of maintaining the bike. i almost bought the 749s but was told that the maintanence is going to be like abt 2k plus for every major servicing. the R machines are not like any normal jap bikes. they are race tune and most of the time they are meant to be pushed to the limit. you would be better off with the base model.

Nope. I just want to find out what's a Billet Breather is for and the pros and cons of it.
