1199 FunnyBunny launch 18 May

Venue : ? i dun know ?

its the official launch of the 1199 Panigale right here in sg..? heard we need invitation to enter..

The 1199 Panigale was just launched at Ducati KL on Thursday 19th April - it came out in KL newspapers while I was there. I popped in to have a look on the 20th afternoon, the red S model and the Tricolore were displayed. Beautiful and tasty, but not allowed to sit on to try out because they were just sold.

I don't really fully understand what you're trying to say.

Anyway, how I wished that I had ridden my Diavel there (I've already ridden this bike into M'sia 13 times, Mersing, Kluang, etc., with 2 of which, once on my own, were to Cameron Highlands). But unfortunately this time, I rode another bike. Otherwise, me and my friend(who was riding a MS) would have felt to be in perfectly good company.

When we checked into the Melia KL hotel on Friday, after our ride from Kuantan, we were pleasantly surprised to see in the hotel newspaper that they had launched the 1199 Panigale yesterday Thursday. So we were soooo happy to be able to go down to have look.

When we reached there, it was raining and they were already bringing down the white tents, and the new showroom was quite empty as it was still under construction. But the 2 Panigales, a red S and a Tricolore, were there. We were served by a saleslady, and we had the 2 bikes to view all by ourselves.

They were deliciously beautiful. I had wanted to try its ride height, but because they were sold, I wasn't allowed. Alas. And as an added bonus, as were about to leave, we bumped into 2 MM staff who were there for training. We chatted a while then left. The visit was the highlight of our 5-day trip.

But, if I had not seen any Ducati sportsbike before, and was given photos of each sportsbike(1199 included), I would say that each photo is beautiful. They have the same gene - Beauty. The 1199 is just a new look, new technology notwithstanding.

Cheers

Dear ducati fellows, my first post here..

Going to get class 2 and will take a pre loved ducati according to the plan....

Always want a 1098/848, the downside will be only the price, and i have a bit concern on the seat height.. i am 1.67m, 50KG only,, not sure if 1098/848 will be too high for me??

the alternative will be 999, seat height is only 780cm...but it is 4 stroke. understand ducati is famous for 90 V-twin engine, it shall be 2 stroke?? or i can it wrong? Just don't want to a "special" ducati, i want to stick to main stream..

Thanks for the advice..

Head on down to minerva and sit on their 1098 & 848 for a feel. Only you yourself will know whether u are comfortable with the seat height. They have a used 999 there for sale too. Go try and sit on it. Feel the posture. You yourself know best at the end of the day whether u're comfy or not.

I think u have to go read up abit about 4-stroke & 2-stroke engine.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2_stroke_engine

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4_stroke_engine

V-Twin engine doesn't mean it's 2-stroke.

A two-stroke engine is an internal combustion engine that completes the process cycle in one revolution of the crankshaft (an up stroke and a down stroke of the piston, compared to twice that number for a four-stroke engine).

A four-stroke engine, also known as four-cycle, is an internal combustion engine in which the piston completes four separate strokes—intake, compression, power, and exhaust

All Ducatis are special. If you want main stream, i think Yamaha Fazer would be a better choice.

Cheers! :)

I think he mistaken 4 cylinder/ 2 cylinder engine with 4 stroke/2 stroke engine..

Thanks for the reply.

I understand roughly the diff between 2 stroke and 4 stroke, but Ducati is a bit special. i meant main stream is the ducati main stream, just don't wanna someday a bro come by and say " hei, you get a "special" ducati.....".

I am trying to understand what is the difference between the 999 4 stroke v-twin DOHC and for example the v-twin on 1098~

Dude, they are the same 4V engines. And its L-twin, not V-twin. Just that they are technologically different. All ducatis are special. Ur off the mill mechanics cannot service a ducati. Why u may ask. Cos they do not have the proper training nor tools to do so. Our settings are set to the mm.

Generally there are only 2 types of ducati engines. 2v air cooled & 4v water cooled.

Read up more on the mechanical aspects of ducati machines if thats is what u are asking abt. Wiki is a good start.

Actually an L-twin is just a 90deg V-twin. It's more of a marketing thing rather than an actual engineering advantage.

Thanks. dodobird. I will be in peaceful mind then... Put 999 in the list, together with 749, 848 and 1098.. (don;t really like the front face and tail of 748,996 and 998..)
