I am a new rider looking for an auto bike as i think it is hassle to change gear all the time. It is just for leisure ride with my girl after office hours and over weekend.

Q1) Is there any disadvantage of getting a auto bike?

Q2) Can recommend some fuel-saving, maintenance easy 2B auto bike ?

Q3) Any recommendations that you can give to a leisure, new rider like me on which bike to get ? Should i get a auto bike so i can saved on shifting gears?

I feel its harder to control your speed on a auto bike. Same logic applies to manual and auto cars.

not so true....cos i drive both manual and auto before.....

i control better with auto cars....ler...kkekeke

Hi,

If you are too used to auto bike, you may face a little difficulty in clutch control if you wanna upgrade next time.

However, if you have no plan to upgrade, then getting automatic bike shouldn't be much of an issue. Maybe there are other agenda, but not that I know of any that should bother you much.

Just my 2 cents. Hope it helps. =)

As i rider, i find that engine brake is so important. If i had to choose, I rather have engine brake than a working tail light.

disadvantage i would say is when you wan to upgrade to higher class it would hard for you to learn/manage coz they are manual..also fellow forumers has mention about having engine brake would be better..but some say they handle automation better. Its all up to oneself. :)

auto bike easy to handle, just throttle and it will go. am riding fino, small cc but good to handle plus fuel economy. can go up to 100km/hr no problem. if yar want higher cc can try cpi gtr. i think now they got 180cc. very stable 2b auto bike. :thumb:

just my teeny weeny cents. =)

But from what i heard, a scooter can really save a lot in fuel. So overall, even w more expensive belt, would save a lot?

Also, is it true that with a auto bike, there be less engine brake than a manual bike?

For auto cars, there is little or almost no effective engine brake that can be used. Especially when you corner at higher speed, you use engine brake to have more control. But with auto, i have no idea how it would feel like.

For those auto-riders, does it feel like when you turn off throttle, your bike is on neutral with some teeny wee bit engine brake? I never ridden an auto bike before. :)

Get a Yamaha Fino or Yamaha Nuovo.... Maintenance wise.... change engine oil regularly and check your tire pressure. No need to touch anything else except of course pumping fuel. No chain to lube or tension. Easy bike to ride. Spare parts are also easily available.

Not sure why Honda does not bring their Click into Singapore. Just as popular as the Fino in Thailand.

Actually, once you've learnt how to coordinate the clutch & throttle. You've learnt it for life. Yes, you might probably not be good at it the first few times but you'll get the hang of it fast.

I love riding automatic bikes in Singapore. Now I wonder why I didn't get one in the beginning. But it's never too late :)

actually, some automatic cars do have a certain amount of engine braking, though most do not. that is besides the point though. engine braking is an effective means to slow your vehicle down, especially when you are going down steeper slopes (e.g. cameron highlands, genting highlands, that road in south buona vista etc). if you use your brakes on long stretches, you will heat your brakes up to a point where they can start to fade.

however, we do not normally travel on such roads. so that point might be moot. still, engine braking is useful in everyday situations and will slow your vehicle down in a nice and controlled manner, giving you good power when you do need it, especially in an emergency :-)

I believes tat auto vehicles feeds more gas than manual vehicles ...

depends on wat model of bike, some auto is better FC than clutch

Rode an auto bike before, much more practical in the streets of Singapore where traffic lights are so near to each other.

yeap, throttle & go, relax

My last paragraph. I'm asking how does it feel like if you just stop throttling you bike? Will it keep gliding or can feel engine brake?

erm..actually for mine, once you stop throttle, the speed drops pretty fast. can feel some engine brake, but not as much as manual ones. :)

Auto cars can switch gear to overdrive or 2 to have more engine brake, but you must know the rpm difference for each gearing...

I've did Genting with the Fino last year... no problem riding up or down.

Coming down, felt better to continue to throttle the bike on the auto.
