If the suspension is too old already, might as weel replace it.

I bought a no-brand(Gazi or something) suspension for around $250 or so for my old Ver S a few years back. Served it purpose.

If your budget is higher and intend to ride for long, can look for brands like Bitubo.

another place which u can rebuilt ur rear shocks is bikelab. they can oso change ur springs to firm ones for a better feel. anything u give them a call.

as for replacing of shocks, u can choose to change back to showa which can cost up to $1000 due to the power of yen, or kayaba or gazi. depends on ur budget n wat u wan. n if u intend to change to a new shock, remember not to throw ur original shock.

rebuilt my vtec1 rear-shocks at teck thye last year. fantastic! David added a spacer, the seat height was higher, cornering very nice. after rebuilt, somehow i got the confidence to clear meter at NSHW few times. he charged me $240. rebuild is more worth spending.
