metzeler are good all rounder tires... I been using it ever since 3 years ago..

the L shape valve normally comes when you are using TA150 rim.. Its better also as there are lesser bearings. maintainance better too!!!

ya, metzeler is great on phantom. :thumb:

Hi all, I just changed my tyres to Metzeler for $118 @ Unique, front and rear. The normal price is $155. The promo is only until end of July. Better hurry if you don't want to miss this golden opportunity.

Is visiting the petrol kiosk to pump my wheel every week normal for TA200?

I always pump 29PSI or 200kPA.

Yamaha RXZ 2016~Current

Ducati Monster 821 Dark Stealth 2016~current

I also pump at 29 psi / 200 kpa.

My front tires is old and hard though there is still threads. Anyone know where got good tire deals? What is the price for a front? and price for a pair? I would be getting metzeler unless there are even softer / sticky compounds. I do not mind another brand / thread pattern for the front ( I will be keeping the rear tires, but do not mind buying a pair and changing next time since it wears faster).

Thanks in advance for your inputs.

Price per pair should be in the region of $150. For tires, i like to go unique because their prices are really competitive compared to neighbourhood bikeshops.

U wont go wrong with any of the big brands like metzeler or pirelli. Personally used the metzeler and loved it. Ran the tyres for over a year and >10k km barely any wear. Learnt that the best way to extend tyre life is maintaining pressure. Weekly checks is a good practice.

Pressure i prefer to keep 220F and 240R as im heavy and i had 3 boxes. Try pumping more in the rear like 220 or so. Handling will be much better.

thanks for your reply.I have 3 boxes too. The front metzeler I have now is old. When I brake as I go down a hump, the tire would sometime skid on the downward momentum. The rubber is dry and feels hard too. Is there any tires from wave, sports bike etc that would fit? I am new on the phantom and still managing is handling. I need all the grip I can get. There was a pinhole leak on my rear tire that is very new and I fixed it with tire sealant, it seems to be working so I wont be changing the back but do notmind bring the new rear back to be mounted next time..

phantom uses a unique size thats different from other bikes. u got a few brands to choose from.

take a look here:

http://www.uniquemotorsports.com.sg/images/pdf/P32.pdf

the bike is not setup for great handling. keep that in mind. ride within its abilities. if u are exceeding the grip levels with the new tyres, i suggest u take a look at ur riding style. im no slow rider, but i make sure i do no exceed what the bike is capable of. ride safe! :)

Thanks for your advise, tried a battalax 39, very nice and smooth , steers easily but somehow have to change it off as it isnt exactly what I wanted.. Bought a battlax 45 instead. A Bit rougher but braking seems to be better, but the recommended 200 kpa seems to make it sluggish and slow. It is clearly a bit harder than the 39 I have not scrubbed it in I hope that it will be better than lazertec. Anyone knows what to pump for bridgstone 45?

can u list the specs of the battlax tires? im sure it doesn't have the exact sizes for our bikes. also might not be designed for the weight of the phantom (especially if its made for kups). can play with the pressure but max at 240 is my recommendation. u should also read the printings on the sidewall. they should list the max operating pressure of the tyre. NEVER EXCEED THAT

Hi, the one I got is the 100/80-17M/C 52H rating.

The 39ss is a http://www.bridgestone.com/products/motorcycle_tires/products/battlax/bt39ss.html and the 45 is the http://moto.bridgestone.co.uk/motorcycle-tyres/ranges/battlax/bt-45/

I lowered the pressure to 200 and it is sluggish, I am going to try 220 or so and then slowly move from there. The side says max something like 42psi but didnt say minimum. Honda recommends 200, how?

Do shops do balancing when you change the tire? This shop I went to didnt. any idea where to buy a bike cover? Its raining almost everyday!

Can play ard la. As long as below 240, i think is the safe limit. Even though the tyre can take higher pressure, it could reduce the footprint and reduce traction. Worse still in this rainy season.

Btw phantom's handling is naturally abit slow. Im worried if its just u demanding too much from this old school cruiser.

Cover get at ahboy la. Wat do they not have? Haha

Does anyone here knows how to compare tyres sizes for replacements against OEM stock?

ie :- stock tyres 90/90-17.... will a 110/70-17 tyres screws up the speedo reading?

Thxs!

Bro, try this :)

http://easycalculation.com/physics/classical-physics/motorcycle-speedometer-calibration.php

Basically its about circumference. :) Use excel spreadsheet may be easier if you plug in the formulas in.
