The point is... yes they have property there, but they are RIDING INTO sentosa, from what I know, even staff are allowed to.

Moreover the rangers are also on BIKE.

I mean is it that difficult to create some bike lots just at the beach station (i think it's sufficient), we can just park there and walk or use whatever inland travel is available.

I am a Ranger in Sentosa and we are only allowed to ride in with approval by the management should there be an event which requires us to stay overtime as public transport is no longer in service. If u spot any "Ranger" during normal working hours and he is riding a bike, that is not a Ranger, that is a law abuser and he will be hunt down and evict from the island.

Yup they emailed me exactly the same things too...any idea how to debate? Or are you all convinced? :D

I felt quite unfair at first but after reading their replies. It makes sense. I think it was wise of them to think out all these issues. Well, unresponsible people usually harms the whole lot.

I feel its just dumb if you ban bikes into sentosa just because the curves are deemed to be tempting for people to speed. If thats the logic behind it, sentosa might as well ban cars from entering. You mean drivers dont find it tempting to speed in the corners? Only for bikes? So its safer for a vehicle weighing a ton + to crash into walkways ? Or safer for buses? Or safer for cyclist to cycle along side cars and buses ? Rich ah siah kia with ferrari, lambo, porche dont speed in the island? If you visit the island you know those sports cars drive way too fast. If its dangerous because its curvy, bikes have already been ban from south buona vista road long ago.

they mean only motorcyclists have irresponsibly people in them? Drivers have less? Dont have ah beng drivers, dont have speeding taxi.

I think its just plain discrimination man. They think motorcycles are unsightly and only for the poor, dont want the rich to see poor man's transportation sharing the road! They'll be losing a lot of money from bikers who find it troublesome and unfair. For those ppl who agree with sentosa, you are unknowingly supporting discrimination for other places to follow!

Hi guys, I have to say this because it seems like many of the good folks here are getting worked up to no end.

Ultimately, whatever reason Sentosa has for not allowing motorbikes onto the island is irrelevant: no amount of petitioning or complaining about it will change a thing, unless motorcyclists comprise a significant source of their revenue (and they don't). Sentosa is no longer run by our government, and is a profit-seeking corporate entity. They have no moral obligation to ensure equal access and opportunity, and they're perfectly entitled to discriminate against any segment of their customer base if they think it will add to the bottom line. It's like clubs deciding who they'll let in at the door; if you're turned away for whatever reason, however discriminatory it is, they're fully entitled to do so. That's business, and it's a cruel, ugly world.

That said, the problem is that alternatives to parking at Sentosa are really shitty. Vivocity charges rip-off fees for parking because they don't want Sentosa-bound bikes camping out in their lots. Harbourfront doesn't even allow parking. St James has (last I checked) free but very limited lots for bikes. The most cost-effective option is parking at Seah Im, but the one right beside the MRT entrance at the hawker centre fills up really quickly, and the one on the other side of the hawker centre is quite a walk away.

All things considered, this is probably why I avoid going to Sentosa or Vivocity if I have a choice. Meh.

RWS may be on Sentosa, but it's not the same company. Guess that's the loophole we can exploit then. ;)

They're operated by Sentosa, and the rangers do speed checks too; they report all traffic offenses to the TP, who follow up pretty quickly.

In case you're wondering: those cameras work, and it's the Cove residents who get fined the most. Haha.

i doubt they will ever allow bikes in. car parking at sentosa is expensive, if they allow bikes in they will charge a few dollars, i think bikers will rather park at vivo as they already complain vivo city parking is expensive

Myth Busted.

The bridge leading into RWS is Sentosa property.

RWS will chase out bikes that ride into their area.

Totally didn't know about this and rode to Sentosa, had to leave but managed to ride in across the bridge and made one round around the roundabout before going out. At least I managed to ride inside once I guess. Went home changed to car and went back to Tanjong beach. What a waste of time.
