Do you understand behaviour of illegal racing? Go to TP file on 80s, when illegal racing was a serious social problem, and then you understand.

Illegal racing has little or even no regret for anything and anyone.

Have you seen cars & bikes go through humps at more than 60KmH at Car park?

What is the cost of ecomony damage to tourism done if Police has to seal of entrance/exit? Like the only fatal accident in fantasy island, all you need 1 incident to have unlimited damage.

Instead of waiting for police to act, they simply don't let bikes in. Simple & safe for every1.

I think we've gone a bit out of point here... Seriously, I do not understand the mentality of illegal or hell racers. That is why I dun think that they'd wanna race in Sentosa lor.

Ya, I've seen scram gg at 60km/h or more gg over humps not juz in carpark...

I dun see any economy damages if the police is gonna conduct a rd block at the exit.

My point is, I do not understand why bike is not allowed, and I'm not fighting for the sentosa island mgmt to allow bikes entry to island. I only wanna know the reason/s why bike is not allowed. And i believe that no bike entry is to prevent illegal racing is not a valid point.

Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback. We would like to

offer you the following reasons for not allowing motorcycles on the island:

1) Certain roads/places such as the bicycle tracks, naturewalk trail,

pedestrian walkways, service road, beach/picnic grounds are out of bounds

for cars. Bollards are placed at these areas to prevent cars from entering.

However motorcycles can easily access such areas and to introduce other

preventive measures would be difficult as we need to cater to bicycle

access.

2) Increase in unauthorised and illegal parking along pathways is

anticipated and this will also cause obstruction to pedestrians.

3) Speed limit on the island is at 40km/h and enforcing this on motorcylists

is nearly impossible. Tendency to go beyond the speed limit or taking

advantage of certain stretches of widening road as racing track is very

high.

4) We need to ensure the road safety of our visitors who usually walk from

one attraction to another

5) Some of our main trunk roads are single laned. This may be hazardous

especially to our coach drivers who have to manoeuvre these narrow

roads/blind spots and at the same time look out for motorcyclists who may

overtake.

May we suggest that you park your motorcyle at the Seah Im Road car park

(near the HarbourFront Bus Interchange) and from there take our shuttle bus

into Sentosa. We welcome everyone to our island resort and appreciate

invaluable feedback

such as yours. However, in Sentosa, it is our top priority to ensure that

we do not compromise on the safety of our visitors.

Thank you once again for being a regular visitor and for appreciating the

efforts we are putting to re-develop the island resort.

We look foward to welcoming you back and to experience a new Sentosa in the

coming months.

Not to pour cold water my friend, but it is quite useless to debate. They will always have some kind of a reason. Previously when cars are not allowed, they also have their so called reasons. Ultimately, it is for them to say whatever. I'm dissappointed too, but this is Singapore afterall. :pity:

Well actually they should have a enclosed area for us to park our bikes on the island itself, we wont be able to ride around on the island though. Jus like a normal entrance to..lets say a Zoo.

Exactly. Like a carpark reserved for those who paid the entrance fee.

Anyway as I biker I also don't support letting bikes into Sentosa. In fact, I don't even like the idea of cars inside although there are practical reasons to it. And what if one day a biker knocks down a tourist on that island? The entire biker community will come under fire just because of one farker. :nono: :nono:

Harley riders are mostly mature adult riders and they knows what to do. Yes, I agreed that the exhuast pipe are loud, but it does sounds better than those 2 stroke sport bikes that mod the pipes. At least the sound from harley is the legendary sound of the living spirit of the touring bikes. But what abt the sound of those 2 stroke sport bikes, its so ear piercing. If the sport bikes is using those original racing exhuast like those big bikes, the sound is great. A pure racers and cruisers love the pure exhuast sound, its the hell riders that love the ear piercing screaming exhuast pipes. Well, thats my personal opinions. NO OFFENSE...

i do some how feel abit of logical towards the reply of the sentosa mgmt...not i am trying to pour cold water...but they do somehow need to protect the image of sg towards the tourist...any as for the safety too...BUT, i strongly agree tat it shld have a big parking area for us bikers inside, which is more convinent for us...so maybe someone can send a feedback to ask them work out something like tat...

All their worries apply to cars also. Its a biased and unfair judgement passed to us bikers. Talk about illegal parking, Single lane roads right? What if a car parked there? Car over take more dangerous. Speed limit, 40. Dont think so... Buses maybe going at 40kmh. But not the cars. So overall, you can shoot them back bu saying the things cars will do the same thing, except they are 4 time more dangerous. So lets ban cars and bikes! Give us a parking lot on the island! :cheeky:

maybe can ask them based on what statistics did they arrived at the conclusion that "Speed limit on the island is at 40km/h and enforcing this on motorcylists is nearly impossible. Tendency to go beyond the speed limit or taking advantage of certain stretches of widening road as racing track is very high." This seems like a baseless assumption.

However motorcycles can easily access such areas and to introduce other

preventive measures would be difficult as we need to cater to bicycle

access.

if sentosa management has forecast such problems to exist, i think enforcement agencies such as Npark can be consulted, so far i do not really see motorcycles barraging their way in east coast park

2) Increase in unauthorised and illegal parking along pathways is

anticipated and this will also cause obstruction to pedestrians.

Again so, various enforcement agencies such as chubb, cisco, traffic, lta, nparks can be consulted, the fine generated can be used to make sentosa a better place for all

3) Speed limit on the island is at 40km/h and enforcing this on motorcylists

is nearly impossible. Tendency to go beyond the speed limit or taking

advantage of certain stretches of widening road as racing track is very

high.

enforcing this is impossible, how does this assumption goes about, so the tendency for cars does not exist at all?

4) We need to ensure the road safety of our visitors who usually walk from

one attraction to another

i would think all automobiles will post a threat to pedestrians be it 2,4,6 or 8 wheels

5) Some of our main trunk roads are single laned. This may be hazardous

especially to our coach drivers who have to manoeuvre these narrow

roads/blind spots and at the same time look out for motorcyclists who may

overtake.

the design of the road cannot be blamed on the users, maybe the mgt can look into placing blind spot mirrors and speed regulating strips to reduce the chances of such overtaking, likewise these does not means cars do not stand the likelihood to overtake as well

May we suggest that you park your motorcyle at the Seah Im Road car park

(near the HarbourFront Bus Interchange) and from there take our shuttle bus

into Sentosa. We welcome everyone to our island resort and appreciate

invaluable feedback

No.1 can't they place the bollards more closer so tht only bicycles n not motorcycles can enter...i believe all are educated n follow some rules.

No.2 something definatly can be arranged.

No.3 is a bias assumption.

no.4 wats bigger bike or car?

No.5 some public roads have worse driving conditions. i believe ppl who will ride in will be at least P platers n not L platers.

1) bicycles can be lifted over the bollards if the width between 2 bollards were to be shortened. It is an assumption that all motorcycles would want to access such areas which are usually inhospitable to most road-biased motorcycles in the first place.

2) With all the construction going on inside sentosa, I am sure a designated motorcycle parking area could be built at a very low cost.

3) Cars also can go above 40km/h easily, and can also take the widening road as a racing track. THis is an assumption that is biased. Enforcing on cars speeding above 40km/h has been non existant so what makes cars any different as far as enforcing the 40km/h speed limit?

4) Are u suggesting that motorcycles are dangerous machines that are likely to be hazardous to sentosa visitors? dont these same visitors experience motorcycles on the mainland and whatever country they come from? To my knowledge, the visitors to sentosa mainly come from singapore which is populated by approximated 300,000 bikes (correct me if im wrong). I dont think many sentosa visitors hail from motorcycle-free paradise islands.

5) The duty of care, as we learned in 3 classes of motorcycle learning school, is always to the motorcyclist. Caution will be exercised especially if the result of being reckless could be fatal.

No matter what... It can be debated... Two things come to my mind that are the most hot category which THEY will definately trigger. "COST" & "SAFETY".

Cost is too sensitive to be added or discussed because there will be a impact to drivers and, riders should it is implemented. More equipment will be deployed to tighten up abuser.

Safety is most important in sentosa due to their design in routes and roads travelling which significantly shows that is more suitable for riders than drivers... (Travel down to view at the congested routes and roads) To approve one, must disapprove the other. Simply allow a vehicle that delivers more passenger?

Giving a lame reply with such excuses are a way of rejecting consumer into sentosa.
