Still under meat product which u cant bring to spore.. even though it is cook, raw, steam, or any way it is cook.

Can't means can't.. we hav camera's to detect the mode of transport. if any dumb officer clear u, i guess the officer hav to write one long statement why they clear u on thee wrong zone, officer get warning n scolded by superior. u can happily go jb, but the officer is suffering. If that ever happens la..

it's just a matter of want OR don't want.

if really it's so serous by you, i think those senior officers who swing open the gate and temporary convert car lanes into bike lanes will have already been demoted to dunno where already..

things that happen at custom

how abt i buy singapore ciggie ,then never open

come back to sing

the custom officer wanna tax me

but still that doesn't give you or the rest of the officers working at checkpoints the authorities to shout/yell at civilians. period. by aRcHeR

I guess u did something which irritated the officer that he/she hav to yell and scream at u, Work in the checkpoint as any appointed officer there, n u noe how it feels 1 officer clearing thousands of u ppl out there everyday, who just disobey, every little thing must tell u what to do, when u ppl have always come to checkpoint to be screen.

If u guys think u ppl pay tax, officer aso pay tax. No different to any of u out there.

Like what i say b4, u ppl trying to gamble n test the officer, bringing kfc, which already stated no meat & chicken. but u ppl are stuborn. don't u deserve it. Do u know that some officer felt guilty for throwing away stuff which can be eaten. After all we are humans. But no choice, tat is their rice bowl. they hav to follow procedures conducted by other agency.

Spore ciggrattes wil not be tax

is it ??

i didi open it and i am forced to open to show him the SDPC

he still say can tax me leh

Its consider RE-Import when u bring out sg cigg and then bringing in again. if im not wrong per stick $3

As for food i think raw food cannot bring in . . cooked food can bring up to 10kg or less then $100 worth. if you go via 2nd link you would have seen those rules stated on the board.

i didn't know putting my heavy bag down before moving my bike into the proper 'parking lot' was an offence.

you choose the career path, nobody forced you or them to do it. you want to do it, do a good job.

officer also pay tax, so indirectly they are their own paymaster, and you meant that that give them the right to yell at civilians?

just for your info, whatever a civilian do, an officer have no right to yell or scream at him/her, unless the civilian has committed a crime or offense.

i myself hv cm across officers tt are 'black-faced' n officers tt are friendly ... it's kind of unfair to 'kill the whole boat of ppl with a bean pole' ... u're rite ... no1 hv the right 2 yell at anybody so if any officer yell at u ... simple ... yell bk at him ... :D

it's bullshit to me saying you can't clear if we are in the wrong lane.

i have seen senior officers upon seeing long queue in bike lanes and near empty car lanes, he just swing open the gate to expedite clearance for bikers.:thumb:

the officer inside still LL have to do the immigration clearance for bikers.

it is still the same procedure, just different type of motorist.

imagine u were queing for clearance at the counter ... than another bike from behind proceed to 1 of the car counter n was been cleared ... n other bikes follow suit ... wouldnt tt b chaotic??

I rode into the wrong lane. That I admitted. But I also stated the following:

1) Checkpoint was quite clear at that time (Sunday morning). There was no queue for cars and the bike queue was also quite short (3-4 bikes), so there was no question of me cutting queue, of bikes spilling into the car lane etc;

2) Customs officer gave me irritated look before I opened my mouth. Was that necessary?

3) Customs officer wanted me to reverse back and join the right queue. OK, I complied. I thought about riding in the opposite direction but didn't want to get arrested, so had to paddle out of the lane and ride into the bike lane.

And then our dear friend on this thread said that customs officers CANNOT clear the wrong vehicle. So the question is CANNOT or WILL NOT? There's a big difference.

If the officer cannot because her computer was not set up to clear bikes, her cashcard system cannot accept bike payment etc, that's fair.

If the officer WILL NOT because she's anal retentive, or because this is the one chance a low ranking officer like her can boss people around, or whatever, that's fair too.

Low ranking officer, big ego, want to boss people around, that's fine. It's their playground and we have to play by their rules.

But that's all they can do. As long as we obey the law, there's nothing else they can do other than show us black face or inconvenience us in other ways. They know it, and more importantly, WE KNOW IT too. Thus the faux respect we show them at the counter and the complaints and rants on this thread.

BTW there's another letter on TODAYONLINE on some rude customs officer. Is being rude a prerequisite for joining the customs service?

Okay, I have way too much time. Back to work...

I am lucky so far, I guess. Polite chaps at second link.

Somehow, I don't think it is right for a female officer to pat down a male traveller, cute or not. A few times I got a pat down treatment by said female officers. How would it be if a male officer pats down a female traveller? Not appropriate, right?

Maybe my mentality is of an old man.

There was one article years back a singaporean businessman kena tax for duty paid spdc singapore cigarettes.....

To rebut the presumption, must show an evidential evidence that it was bought in Singapore such as receipts.

This happened 2 months back.

Otw back at sg customs, ICA barricaded the motorcycle entry after the bend which forces the bike o enter the car lane.

Because it was after the bend, it was in a blindspot. I nearly hit it but managed to avoid.. After passibg it, i heard a loud bang and wen i turned around, i saw d pillion fly.

Went back and parked my bike by the side and helped the rider. His rxz front setup was totally gone. He was bleeding from his mouth and his gf had swelling on the face.

Then, our heoes came. AETOS!!! i told them that it was in a blind spot and requested tem to put the warning cone furtherup to warn them.

Their answer was, "this is all ICA jurisdiction." a female staff sergeant from ica came down after 20 minutes and got an earful from me before she put the cone further up.

Wat i was pissed off abt was the aetos officers! They jus stood ter and did nth. And the guy was an aetos sergeant for gdness sake!! Pui!! Useless bums.

Lately I have been driving in Malaysia thru 1st link. As you know, it is normal to have jam right after SG custom booth to the vehicle inspection area. Recently, I keep seeing cars jump queue by using the Red Declare lane. The cars will just drive in the declare lane, pass the Aetos guards then immediately drive out to merge with the queue again. I find this practise unethical. Is it that hard to just follow in line?

Easy. Send an email to ICA about the situation.

I had rode behind an uncle who bought murtabaks from JB. As he passed customs, the Malay custom officer confiscated his murtabaks, telling him that such food is not allowed to be brought in. The uncle gave a resigned shrug, told the officer to throw the food away for him and rode off. The officer gleefully walked to his other colleagues, raised the packets of murtabaks and uttered, "Rezeki, rezeki" to them... :slapforehead::faint:
