former tanjong katong girls school canteen. along tanjong katong road toward east coast road. after junction of dunman road, look out for 2 petrol station on the left follow by a row of shophouses. after shophouse is LC (kopi tiam) with front open air sitting. infront of that is wide footpath that can park bike

Hi Guys, came back from my Malacca trip, kinda fun but on way back some things happen...

That morning was moving around in town and had left my fan run cos of the stop and move, stop and move worried about the heat so decided to leave it on.

When on the way coming back to Sg, first my horn was not working and when stop at traffic light the bike just went dead and volt meter show only about 8 volt. Was not able to start the bike again and there is not even clanking sound.

Fellow bikers try to check fuse and all ok then we try to jumper start, still can't. At the end we tried push start the bike and it came back to life again. However, the voltage is stay at around 11 - 12 volt and if on the head light it will drop to 10 volt. At one stage along the high way it hit near 14 volt but that never happen again after we came back.

This two days the bike when on from cold is about 10volt without head light on and the bike can start smooth and easy. Wonder any of the guru here can tell me what's wrong??? Is it bad and serious??? Looking for an answer before go to bike shop to get chop.... thanks!!!

Slow will get you to your destination always.

Hi Jazzbear...

Try to eliminate the simpler possibilities...

1) How old is the bike and what is the milleage like? When was the battery last replaced? Two years should be a gd time to had it replaced already. Check for any bloatedness at the battery sides.

2)Check the battery connections.Tighten them all.

3)Check the starter relay ..is it burned / melted? Starter relay can be replaced yourself.A bit of DIY.

4)If all ok, it could be the alternator/rectifier faulty (Sold in one whole set). It is possible if the bike is reaching its 10years period...

In any case signs if starter relay faulty:

IF anyone has any problem starting their bike when pressing the starter switch the starter relay could be the culprit.

Just recalled replacing my starter relay before. It burnt with the starter fuse encasement. These are some signs showing that the starter relay need to be replaced.

1) Bike able to start..But voltmeter indicate voltage drop.

2) When press start switch there seem to be no electrical starter feel on the engine..When press after a couple of times then bike able to start

2) When engine running..you on the headlight on,engine dies off.

Location of starter relay? To the left side area when you facing the battery compartment. Should be a simple task of replacing the relay alone by just unplugging the red case.Refer pics to see how the relay look like. One replaced bike starts with a single start everytime.

Hi there!...Can anyone guide me as to where or who can fix up LED lightings for my beaST? :cheeky: I intend to fix some after seeing some fellow riders having them during the recent 3NCR. I think it could add more visibility to other drivers when I ride during the night along the NSHW....:)

hehe today got a stx parked near my block there. a series, triple 999 no plate, wonder if its belong to any brudder here? saw bike parked at the slot next to the construction door area, quite risky/

i parked my bike at the same spot before and kana damage. i believe its the construction pp who knocked down my bike, cause when the door is fully open, it will eat up 3 slots and at times they will drive the pickup in that small area.

luckily that time my bike fairing was already damaged so didnt really pursue the matter

Hi Bro, thanks for the info... when to HKL to change my battery to size 14... The shop I got my bike from told me he fix my bike with a new batt but the truth is that is an old batt and size 12 only...

Anyway, HKL change my batt and some oxydase and broke off and also some connector and a full service... now bike doing ok but is seen like when I on the head light it will dip 1 degree Ex. from 12 to 11...

Also, mech told me my bike running on coil instead of alternator... wonder is there any ST without alternator???? :giddy: :sian:

SO Guys out there anyone got the part number for the alternator??? :giddy:

Congrats bro, u will love this bike.

from your avatar, i assume your previous bike is R1.

though it's a 300cc more, never expect for the power to be more.

my fuel cons is ard 16+km to 19+km per litre depending on the traffic condition
