Just asking can the TDM rear shock be adjust coz tiptoe on the bike sia.

Nope u can't.

Couple of tricks u can do though:

1) Change the dogbone

2) Lower profile tyre

3) Cut & rewrap seat

But try to get used to it ten decide. I also tiptoe on my bike and manage well.

Best option is this, next time any other bike also no problem...

Lengthen your tibia and fibula, maximum of 1.5 inch... Need any recommendations please PM me...

Actually, when stopping just shift yr butt to whichever side you're comfortable can already, don't need to tiptoe...

If got chance, let you try mine, lagi high feeling as previous owner modified the seat...

Ahh ... if only TDM has greater wind protection and greater seat comfort for 2 up, that'd be awesome.

Quick question, what are the symptoms before a cam tensioner replacement is needed?

Has anyone replaced theirs before?

Would it be loud rattling noise when engine is startup early in the morning?

Just replace mine end last month...

You will start to hear a higher pitch scratching sound when close throttle...

It's pretty easy to replace BUT if you miss align the grove and install... Start engine and hear a pop sound, good luck. It's time to send your baby to hospital...

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car

and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.

Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall,

torque is how far you take the wall with you.

yes i agree, shift your butt around the seat and tiptoe.

if you are re-wrapping, do consider wrapping it to have bigger surface area, good for touring...!

Normally when I'm free, I'll purchase and DIY...

But pretty busy lately do send to Bikeworkz and ask them to fix. $95

If you want to do it yourself, our TDM guru has done it before, search for it, there step by step procedures...

Just find out there is lowering kit for TDM , not bad can think about it.

Good for cornering and high speed but bad for off road...

i did mine @ Planet (Ubi), i did it at $125 but seems like heavens got a better deal @ bikerwerkz @ $95.

my current mileage is 72700, i changed it because i am not sure if previous owner had changed it. just change it for ease of mind in case bike timing jump and might cost more money for the repair instead ...

hi maybe im gonna get 1998 tdm 850. hows the bike for the 850? is the parts similar to 900 n easy to get nowadays? where can i get the high windscreen? nid help from the old timer hehe

Posted (edited)

I had a TDM850 more than 10years ago. Parts were ok then. Auto Machinery should be able to order in parts for you if needed. They have the parts manual for browsing. I used an Ermax touring windscreen from motorworld. But might be difficult to get now. I also ordered from Eagle screen from Australia who can custom make any height & colour you want. That might be the best option for you.

Any chance you got my ex TDM850?

Hi, lil demon. Getting a Black and gold color 1998 TDM850? Comes with a Nitron rear shock, GPR single side exhaust, black Bagster tank bra, Hepco and Becker engine guards, 3 digit number plate, etc... ?

Ride fast but safe... Skills matters most... the slow ONE... I WAS TOO SLOW at 1min 50.9sec :D

Past rides: Quite a few and different types

Thanks for the compliment. I go to Gopa at AMK Autopoint. My ex TDM850 probably changed hands a few times by now. The weak point is the header I feel. Prone to rust & corrosion. You should get an after market stainless steel one from devil's exhaust.

All inclusive... Doesn't matter which bike shop you go to both are equally good...

It's just a matter of pricing...

DIY, only $60 if you have the passion, time and knowledge...
