:cry:First of all, I would like to say that today happens to be the most sickening day. I knew that for the past week I had this problem of overheating in my engine. Now my engine sounds like kacang goreng. Last two weeks i had change and flush my eo and coolant respectively. And you know what happened? Upon hearing the bike's engine, my mech told me to strip down the engine as to see what's wrong with it.

Suddenly, when he pull out the rubber hose for the water pump inlet, I and the mech looked at each other and was surprised by the amount of water that came out. There was not much water that came out pouring and I was like "OH MY GOD!!" There was no liquid at all. I have been riding with less than a redbull can of water in my radiator. My temp lights did not indicate any overheating. How could I have been so stupid!!

I knew that there was leaking going on near the water pump hose, but don't tell me that it was gone not even more that 2weeks?? I feel sick. This is my first 400cc bike and I had spend lots on it. Now the mech is advising me to not to upgrade to a bigger bike as I told him that I might wanna get a litre bike after I get my cls 2. He said that since I have 9 more yrs of COE on this Ver S, it's better to do the bike and stay with it till the end. After the checks on all, he quoted me $2460 for all.

He's getting a new set of block as the wall that I have is already too thin, have scratches like nobody business and can't be rebore anymore, change timing chain(rough edges), change water pump, new set of hoses, change clucth plate... and the list goes on..

Haiya, what kind of a dump luck I have. Just dump luck!! And now I need to find at least 2k for the spare parts first he says, at least he can assemble everything up for me and I can pay the rest later, slowly. Man, I need to beg, borrow or steal.

Just so you guys know, please do maintain your old bikes periodically and make sure that all electronics are in working condition, and pay attention to details. Ask around for help and make sure you have freinds of the same bike models like yours.

I'm a family man, so my hours are mostly spent with family, hence the problem that are unforeseen. Since the bike is now waiting for me to strike 4D or toto, I am aware that taking a bus to work is still okay.:cry::cry:

Actually that time when i was at a DIY session with ah pek, i think what he told me is quite true and reasonable. "A super four is a hardy bike, you just have to give it good maintainence, it will work well. Good FC, easy maintainence, smooth and relatively fast (not to compare with class 2). So do what you need to do and enjoy the ride."

From his enlightenment, i have allocated some cash and cater to making the engine smoother and hardy first b4 going to cosmetic.

I brought my bike down to a bike shop at bukit batok and they say my clutch rubber is wearing off. Actually i also think so cos when i change gear will jerk and not smooth like my previous bike. Some of my frenz say go planet motors but cos i didn't go there b4 wanna ask how's their charges for clutch plate. Cos nv see how they do things b4 so not too sure. Some more changing of clutch plates must change EO but i wanna use ah pek's blend.. hmm.. sad..

Planet charges about $110 for changing clutch plates without eo change.

Its not compulsory to change eo at the same time, though many shops will try to get you to do so. They want your money, after all. The mechanic can just tilt the bike on its side stand and change the plates. That's all.

From the looks of it and the parts not too bad... Quite a good buy. but provided you go and properly test the bike out first. B4 transfer check if what the previous own states there is what he will give you. The most impt thing about verS is the engine, cos old bike le, must listen and rev the engine to test the sound. Get pple whom know about super four to go down with you. Overall looks good.

Btw the engine block from the picture a bit dirty.. You might wanna check it. Most important, check the coolant and coolant hoses. As what i've learnt from ah pek, coolant hoses should be spongy when press. On the right hand panel if you can remove it check the coolant reservoir. That's all.. :thumb:

All i learn from ah pek's DIY session.

As mentioned, squeeze the coolent hoses to check whether they are due for replacement. New hoses should be spongy. It should NOT be gritty (ie like crushing biscuits). Another sign of old hoses is the coolent dripping out when you squeeze the hose.

Just note that the ver S has 7-8 hoses, if im not wrong. 2 hoses are not accessible as they are located under the carbs (ie, you cannot reach out and squeeze them unless your arms are the size of a baby's). If you are unsure where they are, ask the seller to point them out to you with the engine running. Any leak from these 2 hoses, you should be able to see it.

Anyway, the seller did state that he has changed his coolent hose and water pump. If he has changed ALL the coolent hoses and the water pump, then good for you.

btw, I guess one of the plus points of the bike is the MICRON end can!

Voltmeter?..yah..it be nice if you can pick one up for me if you r on the way.

The Silicon spray is not from NTUC..but can get "SC1" from Mustaffa or two to three shop from 209 (same as 219 at Lenvander)..its a sjop with an eldery lady (50s) and a eldery guy..you can find "Rock Oil" Silicon spray there.

It's okay to give the number but I'm in Vietnam now till next week.

Wah it seems that Ah pek's EO blend is good, my bike is due for EO change, i also want to try it out. How much is the EO blend?

Where to get this X1R? should be from Ah pek cos i remember i saw a post by ah pek that he have the best deal for X1R. add to tank or mix with EO?

My project big had issues this morning on the road. I suddenly loss power in 6th gear, and i thought i was in wrong gear or something. I kick down to 5th, then tried accelerating again but soon it lost more power and the oil indicator lit up and the bike just went dead. Luckily i was on travelling down slope into expressway exit.

I not sure if its the battery, rectifier or charging coil as to what my friend has told me. Anyone here faced the same problem before?

Ah pek use a special blend for bikes. But usually he will have to take 3 weeks to let the blend fully mix together.. So once he comes back you guys juz tell him then he blend for you. x1r is added to EO juz like OWS. I haven really try x1r. But my nxt oil change i will go with ah pek's blend..
