Got noise moving off?..that does not mean chain or sprocket wear mah..can be chain loose, alignment out.

Check and see if your back sprocket tooth are pointed (got chance go and look at a new bike one and compare). For the front sprocket, have to take out the primary gear protection cover..see if the tooth are slanted and 'sharp'. As for the chain, grip a segment from the back sprocket part and shake left and right, if got accessive movement, the chain may be bad liao but still can be use but proper alignment and tension adjustment.

Original Set :$200+ ($220 or so)

Blue label packing ones (very good oso) : $190

The above is with either RK or DID "X" ring chain. If you can afford it, there is a chain call "EK"..not sure how much but damn solid oso (am using). Just don't settle for "O" ring.

The charging voltage was confirm by the sanwa meter. less than 12.5v idling without headlight. Less than 13.5 at 5k rpm. Anyway I got the changed cause I dun want to risk the battery dying also. The Magneto's connector that connects to the harness was in a mess. Overall the magneto looks alright, not chao ta parts. I think I will cut out the melted connector and verify the resistance again. If everything is ok, at least I can keep the old one as a backup.

Magneto failure does not screw up rectifier, but indirectly it does screw up your battery due to over discharge. I am not using those batteries designed for frequent deep cycling.

Thanks Ah Pek for your advice.

I need further advice here, my crankcase breather hose that goes from the cam cover to the airbox is disintegrating. The mech does not have any replacement at this time. Does anyone know where can buy hoses suitable for high temperature and chemical resistance?

Any advice is appreciated.

I recently found out that my crankcase breather hose was disconnected from the air box too. And that is why i could smell the intense petrol smell from my bike when i stop temporarily at traffic lights and etc.

I need some clarification here, so the breather hose is to transfer the unburned petrol mist back to the airbox and then back to the carb to complete the burning process. But this will clog up the piston rings and the glaze the cylinder walls.

After reading through this website, http://www.gadgetjq.com/cc_breather.htm, and according to the author, my piston ring is gone too? As for my case, I need to top up my EO regularly and this double comfirms that my piston ring is a goner already.

And after reading through the website, is it better not to put the breather hose back ?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

does a lot of white smoke comes out from the exhaust when u high rev while stationery?

how often do u need to top up ur EO?

from wad u wrote, seems like ur piston ring is gone. time for an overhaul. my bike same problem too. need to monitor the EO constantly :(

u need to be young and reckless to become old and wise..... if u survive

All mototiam offer about the same lah..used to be $180. Just know the price you want and bargain for it. The important thing is that its how the long the chain be cut to fit, tension and alignment of your wheel back sprocket to the front primary gear, talking about quality workmanship.

Tell the mech you wanna sit on the bike while they adjust the slack and make sure the chain tension adjuster marking is right for both side (at the end of your swingarm).

Take note that original Honda back sprocket set are more expensive.

I got my EK chain from YL but I advise you not to go there. The boss parang there is made of gold. See if you can get it anywhere else.

Don't get too overly excited about what your read. For a start, its a different bike altogether and S4 do not have a crankcase hose. If you are referring to the two hoses from your overhead cyclinder block, it just it, a breather fro eo vapour to bleed out if any and this occurred only at very very high rpm riding or even eo over spill when you top up way too much eo than recommended. The excessive eo will come out from a 'snout' from you air filter box and for non-vtec, you can see this snout is plugged with a transparent hose short tube which you can remove to drain the acculumated residue oil. You can remove this tube and replace with a long one and that it run under open..just that you are polluting the road.

If your piston ring is gone, there be lots of rattling sound and if only the piston oil ring is gone..lots of blueish white smoke..and of course, your performance is under power.

hi guys,

hmm.. long time nv come here chat chat le.. Ok back to topic, this morning when i went to take my bike, i saw a pool of liquid on the ground and i knew something was wrong. Went to the bike, smell the liquid and it was petrol.. It came from the fuel switch and flow down.. I thought it was the block leaking but block shouldn't have petrol in. But the thing is when i went to sch and park my bike there for 4 hours, i don't see any leak from the bike.. A rouge leak??? Should be..

The night before i pump petrol and i think i really pump till the brim.. Is it the cause?? But this is not the first time i pump to the brim.. hm..

Thanks guys.

No one said u did..just syaing its the same effect. Be prepare..it would just leak one day. Your tap level seal is giving way soon. A few more times turning on/off and to reserve would speed the progress of it. Just normal taht seal worn out thru the years.

I don't know how bike shop charge for labor and not sure if you buy and let them do they would want to do it.

Go to Ah boy and buy the whole assembly (don't get the kit set)..the last two person I done for paid $110 for a new unit.

To DIY, the tank have to come off and you have to have a big "C" spanner to take it off..and oso, have your tank in reserve otherwise, petrol have to be drained out if its too full and this is not recommended as can contaminated your fuel.
