Hey guys.. Theres a tick tick tick sound from my block after i ride my bike for sum time, was told by a friend its the shims that needs to be adjusted and that sound will go away. how true is it just to double check? and will there be any side effect if i never get it done a.s.a.p?

This question been asked at least a hundred time thru out SBF. Ur friend is right as to where the sound is coming from but no adjustment needed. Treat it as a normal thing..no side effect..will go away after sometime like a week or so.

Not that I know off but what do you need to know about them. Not for S4 only..batteries are all the same for all bike type.

I'm trying to answer as much as I try to understand your question.

1) When you have a new battery and the 'water' (to you) that I put in from the packed cartridges..that is not water..its "electrolyte". Here is a snipped of an explaination of what electrolyte is..

"When electrodes are placed in an electrolyte and a voltage is applied, the electrolyte will conduct electricity. Lone electrons normally cannot pass through the electrolyte; instead, a chemical reaction occurs at the cathode consuming electrons from the anode, and another reaction occurs at the anode producing electrons to be taken up by the cathode. As a result, a negative charge cloud develops in the electrolyte around the cathode, and a positive charge develops around the anode. The ions in the electrolyte move to neutralize these charges so that the reactions can continue and the electrons can keep flowing."

2) What the shop puts in is just battery distilled water. It does not contain what electrolye is a solutions of acids and a substance containing free ions that make the substance electrically conductive. So for his..the battery has to be be "electrically charge". Also if the charging rate set is no done properly..your battery can be screwed due to too high current rating. 9AH means 9 amperes (unit measurement for current) in one hour. If your battery CCA is 90 amps..you need 10 hrs for a complete charge. Those $75 battery most shop carry is 90 AMPs only.

Also..sometime mototiam just pour water..battery still can charge but it won't hold..in short, they just have their finger crossed hoping your battery last as long.

As u had not describe the sound like "ticking"..it has to be something else then. The one Smoothie mentioned is normal.

U told me the price but i forget la.

How much is it if done at ur friend workshop? Ah Fook right?

You have to call Ah Fook to find out. The price I mentioned was for the pump kit..about $30+ I think..exclude..installation.

Yes...nothing that uncommon. Since you know the problem...why not go around a few more shop and see if u can get a cheaper deal.

If this overhaul job was done not too long ago..try going back to them to have it rectified at no charge of course. U right that its a 'bad' job and likely the rubber seal ring is not sitting properly at certain juncture when the top cover is seated back. $100 is a lot of Hor_Funn and Char_Kway_Teow mannn..and many cups of Ko_pee_Orh!
