helloo..my speedo suddenly stopped working while riding in the rain. what could be the issue?

Hahahax.. damn, I hope it only that prob and not bekuz of thermostat crap.. Lucky I learn all this diagnosis tips frm u Ahpek. Now I may need a bottle of ur coolant again soon cuz I lost alot of it when I was riding back home juz now(overflowed ahhh frm the reserve tank..)

 

Other possibility is taht ur thermostat is bad.

Need to specify ur model of S4..if it's a non Vtec..ur speedo cable likely snapped liao.

ah pek...after getting my bike back on performance, the bike fc is really bad... before that was 21 to 22km/l.. now is 19+km/l.. ride as normal, no vtec...slow riding..servicing like carb and air filter both done... wat could affect it that much? chain was very slag, tyre pressure even if slightly below expected pressure also wont make the fc that much of diff...any servicing i missed out? or wat are the other possible prob

Bro..."Change Is Constant"...nothing ever remain the same anyway. Your bike is getting older by the day..don't expect things to get better. I believe you are basing only on this full tank for your assumption that ur FC is bad or "dropped". U want the right 'test'...do it over an average of 5 full tank..not just 1 or 3. Brw..you said u just got back ur back...from where?..what did u do?..the mech use ur petrol to do cleaning or some other reasons or not?

hahaha.. ic... im now currently on the 2nd tank liao, i said my fc drop is base on my first tank (wentto refill full b4 i start calculating)conclusion... actually i gt back my bike one wk plus, i was monitoring the fc... cos first tank exp and 2nd half tank exp, the digital fuel gauge drop faster than usual... so i guess i onli can live wif it... btw wats ur PB fc like?.. cos this reminds me of the initial time(2yrs ago) i gt this bike.. change/wash those that can affect but fc still 19km/l plus which include wash tune carb

hi, are the cb400 crash bar universal for all version and specs? anyway i think there are different type of 2 point crash bar am i right? where can i find those slightly wider ones?

When i notice the fc higher than usual, i pump the tyre air pressure to the specified pressure. Normally works. Except that the idling was adjusted to 1.5k rpm. Not only higher FCC, but felt the hard knock when engage first gear.

my rpm also 1.5k... hmm how badly affect was urs? mine is drop by 2km per litre and tts alot... previously 280 and reserve.. now haven 260 reserve liao.. i usually charge my tyre 2 mths once, no prob, i charge till 270 rear, 230 front...after 2mths is like 190 front 230 rear.. even wif charging once every 2 mth, no serious affect on FC..

hmm wat do u mean by wont vibrate so much? as in moving off that time? my idling is set at 1.4 for optimum charging of battery... my tank 260 reserve liao for 2 tanks liao... i think ur 2 tanks u gt open vtec ? or did u pump vpower? vtec and v power burns faster...

is ur bike fully warm up when idling is dancing that time? yes, gt improvement, a slight improvement, i said slight is bcos, that time when i do wash carb, bike may have already suffered from vaccumm tube crack which results in poor suction of fuel.. its like if u drink wif a cracked straw, same among of suction, but water that enters ur mouth is so little.. from ah peks advise, don open up the carb as once open, normally u will spend more instead of jus the servicng price... and also, if u really wanna do carb, find a gd mech, as ah pek say those mech who don know how to adjust will spoil the item which is use to adjust the carb.. actual term i nt sure sorry... i saw unique quoting 60 for carb wash n balance.. 2yrs ago i did it at unique due to my poor fc.. do liao, fc same still tht bad -__-.. so this time, my poor fc i don do opening carb liao.. jus wash can liao

 

u might wanna buy the liquid moly to wash ur carb ?

Mine is ver s. I pump 98. my ver s not those fuel saving type. At most get 22 km per l, Usually 20km per l. In case I are thinking that it's modded, it's not. Stock bike. :)

The vibration is most felt on handle bar, it's difficult to engage first gear.

Now is like 1.3 or 1.4k rpm.

I see. I was thinking of doing balancing of the carbs more than washing. They hv a gadget where they put in tubes to the carbs and adjust until 4 carbs are balanced. I used to do that for my CBR in the late 90s. Every wash, u can feel that the bike very responsive. Idling very stable. Btw, the CBR that time is about 6 yrs old. So can't expect my 14 yr old ver s performance to be like then. Haha.

 

But ah pek is right. If the person dunnoe how to do wash and balance carb, the bike rides weird. My bro in law's cruiser is like that. After messed by the first shop, the second and third shop reluctantly takes over and say if after they do still cannot, got to rebuild the carbs. My bro in law live with the problem and eventually sell the bike.

What about ur clutch plates?..have u change before during ur ownership?
