My fav bearings r d Swiss Bones bearings - v. fast, but most importantly, v. easy to maintain (i dun bother abt it for months on ends).

What I did was buy a cheapo $99 skate 6 yrs ago, then replace worn out bearings & wheels wif quality staff ... & till today, its still as fast as some 5-wheeled speedskates!

I dun like Carrefour stuff ... feels cheapo & might as well rent. I'd much prefer to buy stuff from East Coast Park's Hvper Sport. Those people at the shop knows their stuff!

Catch ya all for some sk8tin in future! :cheeky:

any kind souls can update me where are the latest offers for inline skates? intend to get 2 pairs

My fav shops r:

1) Hvper Sports (blue sign board shop in front of Mac, facing the beach)

2) Rollerline (yellow sign board shop along Mac, towards the end, near carpark)

3) Gallen Sports (Parkway Parade 4th level at one corner)

Skateline (orange shop) should have a lot of K2 skates, but my impression is that they run a little expensive.

My guess is the stretch between Mac and Fort Road will remain open the whole day 'coz of this map of triathlon:

Talk about the HEAT! Boy was it HOT! Having a splitting headache now ...

Hey, u wanna join the Samsung 1.12 km inline skate race?

Think I may give it a go 'coz the distance seems ok. Time to get my skates repaired and install some decent wheels before even signing up for it! :cheeky:

Who else wanna join?

A "biker's mass-participation"??? :cheeky: :cheer:

My left boot shell snapped. So my skates are rendered almost useless. Now I have to salvage my Terminator ABEC 5 bearings, at least.

I went to that shop along East Coast Road (I think it's inline culture or something similar) because they were distributing flyers and there was supposed to have up to 50% discount. But there was no more 50% discount items. They had a Rollerblade model for $179 after discount but the chasis can't be modified to make the wheels rocker.

So now I have no choice but to look around again. I don't think I can go into the competition at this stage. Have to get new pair of skates and modify accordingly.

is it gonna be competitive? i just started learning. still beginner

Yes and No.

Yes 'coz its a race with prizes.

No 'coz its not a shoulder to shoulder mass race against others. Instead its an ITT - individual time trial - where you just skate against the clock for 1.12 km around the Padang loop.

Well, if you're just starting out on skates, perhaps can just drop by to have a look.
