Hi there,

I would like to know if there's any legal money lenders in SG? I would like to loan $500. Most banks, GEMoney, Ezycash have a minimum loan of $2500. I don't need that kinda amount. Just need $500 to fix up my bike.

Alternatively, you may contact me at 9092 6752...

Not to agree with him, but I think he has a point. $500 is not a huge sum for someone who can afford to ride. Your analogy is also flawed. One is a necessity, the other is a luxury.

Having a bike transport should not be a liability. It should serve you, not the other way around. Going to a money lender for just $500 is simply not worth it if you factor in the interests.

few years back there was a report in newspaper..small cc used bike is the cheapest mode of transport in sg..

many ride cos of a cheap transport or even use bike to work as dispatch ..etc

no bike means no work.no work mean even more broke...

500 cant even get a used ohlins shock..but for them..500 is 1 year insurance,rd tax maybe can include servicing..

then again..most of us thinks ..money lender = ah long, but for those who needed some amount of money at that point of time,

money lender = god. im toking about legal lender of course..

There's a old cantonese saying from the fire-fighting man during a fire in the ancient days , the cops wear shorts.

got water, got water ( have money , have water)

no water , no water (no money , no water)

got water, hand over water ( got money , hand over )

no water, dispersal of water ( no money , we disperse)

i feel that your logic is very flawed... you can't even tell the difference between a necessity and a luxury....

oh well

let me refute your case in point.

1. $500 bucks is a very small sum of money. Would it not stand to reason that it is a sum that one would easily be able to get through various means eg. part time employment or even loans from friends etc?

2. To have to forsake such options would entails that TS has probably exhausted all avenues before. Hence having to resort to "legal" money lenders.

3. If TS afford even this. So the next step would be illegal moneylenders? Next question this leads us to : Is having a bike worth going into debt for?

Taking all the above mentioned points into consideration, would you not consider my comment about giving up the bike if he cannot even afford a measly $500 bucks, valid?

Fix as in accessorise or repairing? If accessorise, please forget it, if repair, wait for the next pay day. It not a compulsory thing to ride. If you're struggling for upkeep of it, go BMW.

Anyone can ride a bike. Being a biker, is a state of mind.

are you sure it's well said?

i should think not....

yes it is...if 500 is a small sum then y dun u lend it to TS..anyway not to offend but what husher is saying is that we dunno TS situation in the first place and its not right to judge..

the fact that u state dun have 500 to fix a bike, shdnt be riding at all its wrong since we dunno tat 500 is for what that needs fixing..if TS states for accessories then yes you are right but if its becoz he is trying to get up from some accident or like what husher says becoz of just started werk or sth with valid reason then we shd find it somewhere to understand..

No offence intended...

it's a small sum... but why should i lend it to him?

it's the principle of the matter. If you can't afford it, why plunge yourself in debt to sustain it? especially since it's a want, not a need.

Given that most companies in singapore offer buses and that our transportation system is fairly advanced, there is no such "need" for a bike.

It's all in the mind.

lets say some rider got into an accident, medical bills came up to $1,000. repair of bike is $1,800 thereabouts. borrowing $500 to fix up his bike, i think its reasonable.

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

Is that the best retort you can come up with?

and again how do u know in TS situation its not a need or are u assuming???

whether he plunged himself in debt or knows when and how he is able to pay he shd know best..we can only advise TS not to flame him..
