Hi im new here and i hope to learn from the experience riders out there. im planning to get a cbr400 but im not sure how much is the maintainence of the bike per month. $250-$300 per month, is it enough to maintain it and have some extra cash just in case some problems occur?

Oops, I meant installments la. 4am I sleepy oready.

Anywei, if u spend full cash for a cbr4, den 200-300 a month is definitely enuff to keep it. if u keep it on installment, especially >$200, gud luck.

haha watching the final?

so it should be enough? but roughly how much is the maintainence per month? will it be more then 200 or less then that? and what must we service?

hmm... i would say best prepare extra 1k even if u full cash ur bike... cbr400 if ur lucky u can get a gd cond 1... but will be exp for the bike

juz do remember... cheap things dun come gd.... gd things dun come cheap....

200 to 300 will be enuf to maintain in fact more den enuf... but bear in mind the repairs and wear and tear as well.. all tis will be extra... and all of the parts each cost 100 and over... spent more den 5k on my bike oredi i tink... till date for a yr.... juz noticed today is juz nice 1 yr since i bought my bike hahah...

do gif a gd consideration b4 gettin bikes like cbr or rvf.... all tis maintainence repairs etc dun come cheap =( a bit regret gettin tis bike also...but cant help it also heart pain to sell cos coe till 2013 nia and plus i spent a lot and for now i guess the market price for tis bike onli ard 3 to 4.5k onli... and if i sell it at a higher price... ppl wun appreciate the parts that i changed as those r hidden stuff..

but bro if u realli like riding tis bike... and is able to afford all tis go ahead man will b lookin forward for ur joinin of cbr grp haha

its been so long...

massive restoration work dude. think carefully.. i spent a bomb on my previous babyblade.. in the end it had engine issues.. had to let her go.. just too much for me.

hmm. agree. old bikes - wear and tear is common. CBR/RVF quite old already. have to prepare to spent on the restorations.

hmm whats the fuel consumption like? im staying at amk and im schooling at tampines so i really gotta think about the fuel money. wouldnt want to get a new bike but i cant ride it :/

And ive been wondering can i overhaul the engine? if yes how much?

to blacstarz: why did you regret getting the bike? issit because of the maintainence or the performance or something else?

from what ive read (like TS looking at 2A bikes, backside itchy) overhauling wont be cheap.... a lot of wear and tear parts inside the engine and parts are going to be a lot more ex as compared to a 2B bike.... some more servicing (oil, spark plug and oil filter) can say is ard 3 times more than 2B bike cos of its larger capacity... factor in all that and this 20 YO bike becomes less appealing already....

hi.kal: hope u find a good CBR400 bro... im looking for one too, then mold the head and tail fairing to give it a more 2000 look...

Cheap + fast = no good

Cheap + good = not fast

Good + fast = not cheap

hmmm... for the fuel consumption wld b ard 250 to 280km sometimes 300km for full tank... which will b ard 13litres priced ard 23 to 24 bucks each time u pump full... and for overhual.... i suggest u beta not.... will cost a bomb at least 1k and above...

For y i regret is cos the $$ i spent... i rather use it on my future studies... which im plannin.... and now im broke.... =( nidda save up for my uni oredi...

Hey bro welcome to SBF. I don't think getting a cbr400rr is a good idea due to its longevity and high maintanence. I would rather you keep your money and save it for a class 2 bike.

Hahahahahahahahaha..you should know who this is.:cheeky:

rocklobster:thanks bro. hope you find yours too. then maybe we could go riding one day.

blacstarz:hmm but besides financially, have you regretted getting the bike? im thinking of getting a transport bike and keep this as a weekend bike. should i?

eliminator: hahah yes i know who you are. straight change to class 2 cannot uh. after riding a class 2a bike i fall in love with the sound, the power, everything uh. so die die must save up and change bike. then you not changing ah?

i jus list out a few things common to replace on the blade lo..

Magneto Coil $400?

Starter Relay $60?

Starter Carbon $80?

Rectifier $120?

Radiator $400+

Thermostat $100+

Valve Clearance $300?

Coolant pump $120

Apart from all this common to cbr stuff, u might also notice due to age,

thin brake disks

outta alignment front end due to accidents

leaky forks

soft rear shock

burnt fuse box because of overrated headlights

melted headlights switchbox

headlight reflector peeling

thats about all i can rmb only.. in the end, my blade consume engine oil. and that was the last straw.

hmmm... yea guess so... as ur usage for the bike is juz for transport and weekend bike i wld suggest an s4 will b gd... cbr 400 is old oredi... plus the riding posture wun b too gd for a transport bike either... i noe how u feel bro... cos sports bike r nicer den street/naked bikes but after ridin cbr 400 i suddenly got the urge for street bikes' posture haha... might b sellin off my bike also...
