What do you mean rode for 1.5 years and have not been riding for 4 years. So you riding or not riding?

Anyone can ride a bike. Being a biker, is a state of mind.

Sports bike is light in weight and very powerful. As long you ride with a good attitude, mentally and a big heart. I am sure you will do just fine on a 1000cc sports bike. If you think you are those who are easy power devil and speed demon, then your experience in handling bike is not enough yet.

It will be a big leap and you won't have the necessary track experience to make use of the sportsbike's agility (def. can't max out it's potential on singapore roads) but with a litre engine who cares, you should be immune to anything but superbikes and supercars on the road :3

End of the day, if you can afford the upkeep (sorry, no $10 oil change like class 2B), you can do anything you like.

IMHO, I think you should be fine as long as you ride with extreme care for a couple of months. This is to get used to the torque and weight of 1k sports bike as compare to a phatom.

The riding style and incredible power is world apart.

Good luck and be safe.

Life is good.

yup, as long as you have the mentality of safety first you should be fine with the jump.

At most you may curse and swear about the riding posture or fuel consumption.

My friend jumped from phantom to Harley and he cursed about the weight.

Just be real careful in your first 1000km. Get used to the power, clutch, turning radius, etc.

I owned and rode quite a few class2 bikes; from litre sports to tourer to street. I am also an advocate of bike safety.

From my experience, it is not a fair basis to compare class2 sports bike to any other class2 bikes, in terms of performance. The class2 sports bikes can take off like a bull and accelerate into warp speed within less than a second. And many people have crashed on sports bike, especially within the first 6 months, even from people who had been riding class2 bikes for a while. This comes from over-confidence, trying to reach the limit of the bike (the human limit will be reached first), rider did not know that he/she is going beyond their riding skill. It's like walking around with a loaded gun all the time--you are constantly tempted to pull the trigger to experience it's power. Yet, the litre sports just makes it much easier to go beyond the rider's comfort zone/riding skill.

So, it's not really got to do with what you rode before hand. So, yes, you can go buy a class2 litre bike--and you are no disadvantaged than other riders. But just be aware of the potential danger of riding a litre sports when you ride one.

Sry for the bad language.. i meant i rode for 1.5 years and sold my bike off, after which i have not been riding for the next 4 years, so yea, not riding at the moment.

And thanks to all your vaulable inputs, so i guess it's the rider's ridding attitude (and i suppose responsiveness) that keep him safe, will certainly take it slow and easy for the first few thousand kms.

Please feel free to share more experiences, i'm quite sure there are others like me =)
