Hi everyone,

I'm thinking of getting a Honda VFR 800 for sports touring and general road riding.

Honestly I have yet to hear of someone wanting to sell their VFR 800. Is it a really good model / buy?

Looking forward to hearing your views!

its hard to find 1 in garage sales. normally when it is up, it gets sold pretty fast.

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

yeah, looks good, has power, underseat exhaust.

i read reviews on uk magazine that says servicing is complex and expensive though? wonder if its true.

but its still a good bike. interceptor.

February 2011 - March 2012 = Phantom TA 200

March 2012 - August 2013 = Suzuki Impulse 400

Present = BMW (Bus, MRT, Walk)

Thanks for the info guys! Honestly, I'm really looking forward to getting the 800, cos the new 1200cc is overkill and WAY too EXPENSIVE! If I got a brand new one, I may as well save a little more and get a car instead.

As a VFR rider myself, i really feel the bike has a good balance between power, handling and comfort. All the talk about high maintenance costs is just bull. Scout for one in good condition and continue to give it TLC. i'm at 86000km on my bike already but it doesn't show it's age. It's a general rule for all bikes. Choose a good conditioned one and make it better.

Yeah, the VFR is a great bike. I've had two, together around 7 years, both VTEC. On the 2nd bike (2006 model) I had problems with the alternator-coil and had to get a new one twice. The 2nd time the bike broke down 30km from the Thai border so had to get it transported back to Singapore and fixed, pretty upset about that so I got a Fazer 1000 instead and sold the VFR. As someone pointed out, it was very easy to sell the bike, it as gone within a few days.
