Hi, I need advice seriously! I’ve lost my motorcycle.

Yamaha Sparks 135.

FBD 5284 U

Main Colour: Red.

Secondary Colour: Black and White.

The incident is as follow:

On 28 August 2010, around 2300hrs,

I parked my motorcycle, Yamaha Sparks 135, at Sungei Gedong Camp. The exact location is behind Serval Company of 42 SAR.

On 29 August 2010, around 0700hrs,

I boarded a bus and went to Tekong for my field camp. My motorcycle was still present at this time.

On 05 September 2010, around 1200hrs,

I came back to Sungei Gedong Camp and discovered that my motorcycle was missing. I’ve made a search around the vicinity but no avail. I also made a check with the guard house and there’s no record of my motorcycle going out of the camp. So, I reported the incident to my superiors and went out to make a police report.

On 06 September 2010,

The Special Investigation Branch (SIB) came down and took statement from me. They said they will investigate.

After which, there’s no news from them and I was told to wait and wait and wait. I tried to get refund of the COE and road tax for my motorcycle but they said that the police has not classified this incident as lost/stolen, so I am not allow to claim anything for my motorcycle, as they are still investigating. My insurance is only 3rd party, so, I can’t claim from insurance.

So, I have some questions in which I need answers.

1. Will the army/government compensate me due to the reason that I lost my motorcycle in protected area and I was on training.

2. What else can I do other than just wait, as they seems to be real slow in investigating.

My friends advice me to go and report it to the media to get attention and awareness as it is lost in the camp. (If a motorcycle able to get out of camp without notice, classified documents or rifles is able to do it too.)

I noticed you parked the motorcycle in a protected zone. That is indeed wtf!

I feel sorry for your loss and hope the powers that be are getting to the bottom of this ASAP. As you stated on your closing paragraph, this security breach is no laughing matter.

Could it be tow/repo? Not sure about SGC's protocol but some camps (that I have been to) allow civilian tow services to change pass and enter to recover broken down private vehicles.

The camp protected area is under the jurisdiction of Mindef so I suppose there isn't anything much u can do other than wait.

Most parking area, be it private or public always has this "Park at your own risk" unwritten clause somewhere so the answer is quite obvious..

Talk is cheap so why not ask tat gd samaritan friend of urs' to do it on your behalf?

Steps to do a proper KNNBCCB with middle finger.

1. Bow down slightly, looking intensely at objective

2. Like a raging bull, hop and jog slowly towards objective

3. Take your left palm and slap it hard on the right mid-arm with a SLAP!

4. With charisma, raise right arm, whilst showing middle finger (with left palm trapped in bend right arm)

5. Shout! KNNBCCB

So, I have some questions in which I need answers.

1. Will the army/government compensate me due to the reason that I lost my motorcycle in protected area and I was on training.

I'll be honest, I'm not 100% on this but I'll say 99.99999999% the answer is no. Park at your own risk. Especially since parking is free.

2. What else can I do other than just wait, as they seems to be real slow in investigating.

To be honest, no one will know if a motorcycle had been ridden out of camp by someone who is not it's owner. The guardhouse does not have a photo record of owner of every bike, as such they will not be able to check if the person riding it is the owner.

Unless of course, you got friends at the guardhouse who know what bike you ride.

Hope this incident resolves fast for you. I'd say it's better to keep in touch with the investigating authority at this point in time, rather than go to the nearest media.

Tell Mindef that this is a serious breach of security. Especially now with the hype of Mas NasiLemak back........ How can our ARMY be so "Secure"? And mention to them you may make this a civil suit. May give them a little encouragement to work faster.

If it's done by a camp personnel, there is no breach of security.

Try checking sam/axs and see if your bike has occurred any summons and try to trace from there...

1. No, it is your choice that you choose to ride to camp and park there. Although it is a protected area, your bike is not a govt or mindef property.

2. Reporting it to the media means skipping the chain of command, you yourself know it is a chargable offence. You can try doing it IF you can, but it will not do you good in any way. Classified documents and rifles are considered controlled equipment and safeguarded. Sad to say, your vehicle isn't.

comparing your bike to classified documents and weapon just doesnt make any sense. documents and weapons are there for a reason and purpose.

you made the choice to ride to camp and park there.

and since now you also made the choice not to be covered under fire/theft, its better to wait for the investigations of SPF and SIB.

good luck.

Still scary because like TS I would think that by parking in a protected area that's the last place I expect a theft to take place.

The other thing is, ... TS rides a very common and practical commuter machine. Steal for what? It is easily affordable!

Sorry to heard that bro, Try narrowing down yr search, think like a thief...Protected area, Huh?.... Who are the ones that can gain access easily? Does the Guard house keep a list of contractors coming in & out of the camp in Vehicle? Who on earth dare to do such thing in board daylight, walk into a place with guards & steal a machine just like that? Inside job, maybe....??

I don't know, but All the Best to you hope you find it soon.
