joe

looking at your picture, the handle bar, exhaust, meter panel, mirrors, signal n rear fender r difference but the rear end r similar to roadwin.

looks more likely to be hyosung comet, they have three models 125, 250 n 650 cc.

not really sure

ever since i sold off my first bike; which happen to be Korean...the Daelim VT.

I've not been in touch with "Han Guo" stuff..

having said that..the yellow cruiser will always be in my memory as i think it's the most sexy and stylish bike I've ever owned..

i can it the "sugar-cane machine" cos it sounds like some pasar malam generator...

whose you will hear when you visit one pasar in malaysia on weekends...

pics of the my daelim can be found

when you travel, you experience, in a very practical way, the ART of reBIRTH

confirm your photo is a hyosung comet, see attached picture.

saw one yellow comet the other day, very good looks, i think it's a 125 too.

I dont have the problem of getting my engine and radiator dirty when riding in the rain......dun know why. The messy part on the contrary is above my back wheel, under the body where it is very difficult to clean. SOmetimes i just leave it or splash some water to remove the mud and mess.

About the broquet, I my raodwin also never experience improvement in fuel consumption, and the smoother engine also seems to have less effect liao. $ not well spent, im thinking of getting it out and compare the performance, then tried putting it in again.........

Guest sohst

when u fished out the broquet, just check whether the two pellets r stucked in the wired-cage (not moving at all).

someone told me that the broquet works by the vibration effect from the engine that cause the pellets to rubbed against the wired-net cage in order to produce the micro-catalytic effect.

try to make the pellets loosen in the wired-cage or broaden the wired-cage by using a vice-grip so that the pellets don't get stuck in anyway.

just give it another try, like i mention b4 eariler about refund. They told me to run for 3000 miles or 5000 km for broquet to work.

i believe it becos of the pellets got stuck in their cage therefore not functioning as it should be.

i can see the broquet in the tank when the fuel is near empty, probably will fished it out n check it too.

one more thing, i will probably go down to choong kok today n see what they say about bike warranty.

found that my front disc is a bit swagging, when doing a gentle braking i can feeling the front suspension bouncing up n down, it's OK when hard braking.

Guest sohst

got the front disc plate changed under warranty but was told only the engine r under the two years warranty and not for other parts of the bike (told to read the warranty clauses in the manual).

since my bike is just three months and under 5000 km, they accepted it as warranty. :sweat: luck or perhaps not.

one more thing for improvement, use iridium ignition plug (NGK CR8EHIX). it is the best plug that can last for 80,000 km, it has the best hardness/strength material for durability and conductive least resistance for better sparks through out.

cost of this plug (NGK CR8EHIX) is S$18/= when I asked at choong kok(kaki bukit).

read about it on this thread, http://www.singaporebikes.com/forum/index....=0entry953369

Updating.

after the front brake disc changed, no more galloping when brake applied.

avg. fuel consumption without broquet is 37.79 km/l.

installed broquet on 24/05.

Date____Odo__Trip__Gas____Km/l __Remarks

05/06__2042__388__11.02__35.27__1st tank with broquet.

18/06__2551__508__14.13__35.98__2nd tank with broquet.

01/07__3069__518__14.42__35.92__3rd tank with broquet.

15/07__3613__544__14.95__36.40__4th tank with broquet.

avg. fuel consumption with broquet is 35.94 km/l.

improvement on mileage this full tank, hit reserve @ 540km.

wonder was it the new fuel formula that shell r promoting or was it broquet :confused:

next service @ 3945km, probably will have iridium plug. :cheeky:

Update.

change front sprocket from 14 to 15 teeths, rear sprocket remain at original 42 teeth.

find that this change has better riding speed increase by 7%, felt original ratio r under gear.

pick up should go down proportionally but i didn't feel there are any significant lack in picking up from start off at traffic stop.

next week will change rear sprocket down from 42 to 40 teeth, this will change original ratio from 0.33 to 0.38, increase ratio by 13%. :smile:

Front/Rear teeth sprockets

RPM---14/42---15/42---15/40

3000----40 ----->43 ----->45 kph in fifth gear.

4000----50 ----->54 ----->56

5000----60 ----->64 ----->68

6000----70 ----->75 ----->79

7000----80 ----->86 ----->90

8000----90 ----->96 ---->101

9000----100 --->107 --->113

10000--110 --->118 --->124

tested with 15/42 sprocket seems fine, most will be satisfied with this ratio but i will be going for the next setup (15/40 ratio). probably will not have enough power to pull up to speed, just have to wait for my next update.

just recalled something that i miss out to mention.

for roadwin owners, u notice there is a black tube at the side of the engine (not the one at the front, those r oil lines to the cooler).

take note that the engine picture of roadwin from the brochure, this tube is not shown.

according to the mech, the engine will gain more power if it is isolated (that means block the air passage).

anyone knows what it's function r? :confused:

hi to all,

updating current mod,

went down cka hq n check the new batch of roadwin doesn't have this device anymore.

anyway did the isolation(blockage) of this tube passage yesterday.

start the engine n it idle lower at 1k rpm, also did a run on the ecp expressway with 15/40 front n rear sprockets.

find that engine like suffocating n can pull up to slightly above 8k rpm speeding at 100+ kph on the fifth gear.

remove the blockage n engine started as normal, idling at 1.2k. when for a speed run today during lunch time along ecp. can pull up to 8.5k rpm slowly n speed exceeding 110+ kph, throttling the cv carburator effectively to increase speed.

pickup is down but still bearable, at least now can run on the 1st lane without the engine rattling like mad.

still if wanted to hit top speed of 120 kph must drop a gear n pull all the way to >9k rpm before shifting up again.

now i'm very satisfied with it's performance, will install iridium plug tonite. i guess that about it for moding roadwin.

oh btw, removed the broquet (B/2T) from the fuel tank. it did not actually save fuel for roadwin but power increased by less than 5%, can hardly notice the performance incremental.

so anyone interested, can buy it from me. it only been used for 2,500 km, willing to sell @S$40. it is still good for 397,500 km, according to broquet life span is 400,000 km, pm me if u want it.

Fuel consumption update, see attached jpg file.

anyone interested to buy iridium ignitor plug (CR8EHIX-9), i got a couple extra plugs.

PM me, only two extra.

benefits of iridium spark plug;

1) improve ignition efficiency.

2) enhance power n acceleration.

3) smoother engine run.

4) lower fuel consumption.

5) longer life.

update.

after riding with new set of sprocket taller gear front/rear (15/40), change from original front/rear size (14/42).

riding feels good cos travelling at 80~100kph, engine rpm r at the smooth band(6~8k) but trying to pull all the way up can only manage top speed of 112~115kph n can't reach top speed of 120kph.

i attached a selection of sprockets, calculations is just a approximate n not very accurate but will allow you to have a view which one is the best setup.

personally i would suggest one up for the front n one down for the rear (15/41) selection. 10% incremental from the original, currently my setup is too tall (15/40, increment by 13%) takes a longer time to pull up near maximum speed.

some would want to save cost so by changing the rear sprocket to 39 teeth, will have 8% increment rather than changing the front too. but be aware that a smaller sprocket at the rear will have the chain running close to the swing arm, just ensure that the chain do not run it n will cause worn of chain slighter very fast or run on top of the swing arm.

i would suggest if u wanted to save cost just change the front sprocket to 15 teeth, increment by 7% not much difference from changing the rear to 39 teeth n it is much cheaper n safer to run with this.

this is my opinion n i'm not responsible for any of your mishaps or am i to blame for any accidents due to mechanical failures or installations. it just that after the change riding is much better but those whom alway rode at 50~60kph, engine rpm fall on the vibrate zone(4~5k), so it's up to your own preference. :smile:

I heard from some other guy the blockage tube is a pressure safety device to limit the pressure in the engine to some threshold value. to exceed this safety value is dangerous and may overheat the engine, but increasing pressure will push the speed limit of the bike higher. Dont know whether i explained correctly, since i heard from someone who has modified the valve.

Is it to do with reef (rift?)valve i come across somewhere that again will improve engine performance?

Exhaust-gas recirculation system helps reduce fuel consumption and emissions:

Mixing exhaust gas with the engine's intake air lowers the combustion temperature, with the result that less oxides of nitrogen (NOx) are generated.

In a nutshell, the EGR reduces NOx (nox) a compound of nitrogen and oxygen by diluting the air fuel mixture with some exhaust gas which does not burn. Since the exhaust gas does not burn it lowers the peak combustion temperature. At a lower combustion temperatures nitrogen cannot form compounds with oxygen and is carried out of the system by the exhaust gas.

Introduction

Oxygen is required for fuel to be burnt in an engine. This is usually supplied by taking in air from the atmosphere. However, the air that surrounds us also contains a large quantity of nitrogen. The high temperatures found within the engine cause nitrogen to react with any unused oxygen to form nitrogen oxides [NOx].

The Problem

Nitrogen oxides are one of the main pollutants emitted by vehicle engines. Once they enter into the atmosphere, they are spread over a large area by the wind. When it rains, water then combines with the nitrogen oxides to form acid rain. This has been known to damage buildings and have an adverse effect on ecological systems.

Exhaust Gas Recirculation

The most effective means of tackling nitrogen oxides is to use Exhaust Gas Recirculation [EGR].

This technique directs some of the exhaust gases back into the intake of the engine. These gases have already been used by the engine and no longer contain much oxygen. By mixing the exhaust gases with fresh air, the amount of oxygen entering the engine is reduced. Since there is less oxygen to react with, fewer nitrogen oxides are formed. This can greatly reduce the amount of nitrogen oxides that a vehicle releases into the atmosphere.

Conclusions

EGR is

– Simple

– Proven

– Reliable

– Fuel Efficient

Reed-Valve

– Simple, Cost Effective

now currently i riding a wave...

chanced upon this bike review.. was wondering if its worth changing..

now my wave can go avg 44km/l.. this bike i read from previous posts go ard 37km/l.. so thinking if worth it to change.. since bigger, more stable, tank BIGGER (4X of wave).. so can go 600km b4 pump

anywae i used to ride S4.. consumption was 23km/l.. xiong man..

but this bike exp leh.. read is 7k+ OTR.. kaoz..

i used to riding @ 90-100km/h liaoz.. wave mah.. no power one.. this one even less power than wave??

treat this bike as a baby s4 if u know wat i meant.

i rode this bike avg fuel consumed is about 36 km/l (new) depends on how u ride it, eventually fc will drop as it aged.

tank has about 16 liters (include reserve), it can last me up to 550km before topping up again (reserve is 1.1 liter).

bike is heavier than wave, quality wise is good n i don't think it's pick up is any better than wave.

i have did change the front/rear sprockets n now travelling at 100kph is smooth, otherwise running at this speed the engine seems very stressed.

if possible someone post more detailed pics of this bike?

eg: the dashboard n stuff?

i normally pull engine rpm to 4~5k b4 shifting up gear, very seldom pull >5k rpm.

normal street riding speed about 80kph, highway about 100kph n the fc is still avg about 36 km/l.
