hmmm ... I'm not a pro ley but nevertheles just sharing here

... what is your objective in the first place if you are using KNN open port air filter? sound better or optimal performance ?

To have optimal performance , please note that mikuni bs29 cv carb is a slow carb not like mikuni/sudco/tm series or even keihin cv or pre jetted carb which are consider more powerful carb.

On tuning matter ... first we have to know what is our stock carb for better understanding ..

Actually I've posted this on SBT previously ..

Like said if fz16 using the same construction as pulsar mikuni bs29 cv ... then here are more info

" Searching the fuel/air screw… The above mentioned screws are responsible to adjust the air-fuel ratio which forms ‘food substance’ for your engine. You can relate it to our human body, where proteins, carbs, fats, water etc all are required in appropriate proportions with respect to each other for good strong body.

There is another screw which sets the idle speed of the machine. This screw is not related to pickup or mileage. It just sets the engine rpm at ’’idle’’ run. 2stroke machines have an Air screw and 4 stroke machines have a Fuel screw. I hope you note this VERY well. Air screw is located on the carb away from the engine. [ Engine - Carburettor - Air screw]

Fuel screw is located on the carb but its near the engine. [Engine - Fuel screw - Carburetor].

If the make of your carb is Mikuni (Pulsar, Yamaha, Fiero) the fuel/air screw probably will be of brass (golden colour).

If you fully unscrew this screw and take it on your hand, you will see a needle like tip.

Idle screw is closely linked with the throttle cable. Idle screw can be turned by the hand.

Screw driver is not essential for it. Finding these screws are very simple. If you still cannot find the air/fuel screw, ask your mechanic .....

Ok now what?

Apart from the above difference I gave between Air and Fuel screw, there is one more major difference.

Fuel screw turned in (clockwise) gives a lean mixture and turned out (anti-clockwise) gives a rich mixture.

Air screw turned in gives a rich mixture and turned out (anti-clockwise) gives a lean mixture.

Lean means more air, less fuel. Rich means more fuel, less air.

This ends the basics." ...

yem yu the idle mixture screw only give you the idling of your rpm when you start your bike or when you close the throttle. if you only do the idling screw it can give you the same effect as jetting but hor that will also make your idling too high when you stop bike your rpm never go down and thats if your carb fuel jet too small, if your fuel jet too big then even if you reduce the idling the carb will still burn your plug.

To all the bros here my humble advise is that dont go and screw around with the carb pin, jet or screw if you dont know how to if not you see black smoke coming out from your exhaust lol then is time to change your chao ta spark plug lol or when you ride half way your bike wan to die or start jerking without any reason lol .

Just a humble advise from my bad experience lol
