In order for a HID to be legal, you need to have a HID headlight. These headlight comes with an auto leveling device (motorsied) so that even when the car are loaded at the rear, the headlight will auto adjust downwards to prevent the light beam from shining upward. The reflector uses in the HID headlight also prevent unneccassary glaring. Usually these HID headlight comes STOCK with cars. You can convert your non-HID headlights to HID provided you can get the neccessary HID headlight for your car. For example you are driving a Honda Civic with halogen headlight and you know there is a HID equiped Civic model available. You can go enquire from Kah Motor what is the neccessary parts needed to convert your Civic into HID compatible headlight. Then just go LTA for approval like how you approve aftermarket exhaust.

Such headlight is still not available for bike. That why HID will never be legal for bike. Cause it cannot fufill the 2 conditions stated earlier. The closest is the adaptive headlight from BMW Motorcycle. It will auto adjust left right during cornering but don't know about up down. But doubt the reflector is built to handle HID galre issue.

To add on 1 more item.

There is another criteria for car as well.

High pressure jet to wash the headlamp everytime when the headlight is activated.

If you can see those high end conti car, there is a cap like thingy below headlamp. Those will open and shoot jet up to 2bar of pressure to clean headlight.

This is to prevent glare if particles get trap there and the light gets to throw random directions.

Aftermarket bulbs are much better choice with respect to the authority.

Eg => Osram nightbreaker, Philips extreme vision. - all using original rating of 55w/60w or 60w. Using technology to improve throw.

Fit and forget no need to worry about authority and light throw.....

not exactly when some of the laws are crap and simply there is cover liability on government's part.

like e-approved exhaust which is street legal under EU terms, but illegal under laws of LTA cause not certified. :sian:

SNELL or DOT approved arai/shoei helmets but w/o PSB stickers are 'illegal', but cheapo LAB helmets w/ PSB stickers are legal and safe..

Boss,

LTA follows anything from ECE & JIS.... >DOT AND SNELL.... too cheem for them.

The other thing pointed out is .. yes.. nvr pay $$ go for "PSB inspection" Thats why....

Yup the K1600 GT.

And the upcoming Duc 1199 will be coming with all LED headlights.

It's all about what comes OEM stock. If your bike came with candles and mirrors in the head fairings for illumination, that'll be legal too.

The reason is our Beloved Government wishes for that to happen. If our government says that its ok for bikes to install HIDs, then nobody can say NO.
