Nice to meet you bro....Bro btw since your bike have laid up for soo long,i think its best if you drain the oil and put in new oil,cheap ones will do bro. Juz crank the engine a few times to let the oil pump push the oil up to the oil galleries..Reason why is the by products of burning petrol is abit nasty lah.

 

When ur bike is fully done up,ready to start,add some "Engine Flush",OWS or Motul..let it idle for 15mins rev the engine a few times and drain the oil. Change new oil filters too.

 

Dont forget to flush your brake fluid too bro,brake oil can withstand high temperature but it also attracts moisture,producing rust especially near master pump spool n springs,brake caliper pistons and housing,clutch slave piston and housing and not to forget all those valves,spools and return springs in the CBS system.

 

Sujak:- Bro i did as my senior who's an ex-car mechanic regarding the knock sensor error you've encountered. He told me it could be just moisture in the connector of the knock sensor giving the false error,when you leave your bike a few days later,the error disappeard,could be the moisture have evaporated.

 

I read in some forums saying that knock sensor abnormality can be caused by :-

 

1.Connector wire faults from sensor to ecm due to corrosion and wire failure.

2.Corrosion between sensor and its mating surface causing it to loose its sensativity.

 

I suspect its more of no 1 than 2...

 

Now that makes so much sense... Good Info to troubleshoot before kenna waste money for something so simple:clapping::clapping:

Ya bro like my erratic tachometer problem when i juz got my BB...Bikeshop say need to change harness and ecm. Check my wiring,take almost 3hrs on a saturday morning and i spend only $1.50 on connectors.

I maintaned minimum 180km/h throughout. Plus not much traffic at nite.

1 stop refuel and drink less than 10 minutes. And traveling alone so dun hav to wait n wait.

Ish dont say like that ar....for me KL to SG in 2 hr is sure fast bro...fast until scary sia...Plus riding at nite thats why lah i like to ride the NSHW at nite...lesser traffic but more supernatural traffic...hehe!!

I suspect its more of no 1 than 2...

 

1 can check easily. check continuity from knock sensor plug, to output pin at ECM connector. If there is continuity then the wires should be fine.

 

2 also can check by visual inspection, for rust or corrosion.

 

The hard part is the moisture, like you said, if it comes and goes.

some claims the new vfr1200 is the blackbird replacement.. i tried sitting on the bike b4, riding geometry is indeed similar, but lighter and shorter wheelbase...

 

anyway, the last batch of blackbird is 2007.. if u want power and mod ur cam and such, get the carb models. with is pre-2001 I think...

 

else, smoother and supposingly better FC (i doubt so), then any model after 2001 are as good.
