you're a joke.

in the event of an accident, i would gladly sacrifice the bike for me to come out of it unharmed. money can always earn, only got 1 life.

I really think those who just want to quickly pass so that they can save money is being short-sighted.

I'm not being hypocritical; I was studying when I took class 3 and I made sure I had enough money to pay for the lessons (give tuition; work on campus).

After watching motorcycle accident videos and motorcycle training videos on YouTube, I realise what we're learning in school barely equips us to go on the roads. It just gives us a piece of paper; it doesn't guarantee that we will have the skills to avoid scraps if we are so unfortunate.

Have you seen the Dawn Champion video? She filmed herself getting into an accident when this car did a 90 deg turn on the highway. What's amazing is not that you could see the accident from the rider's perspective; what's amazing is she could give a very lucid analysis of the accident on her forum. She was an amateur racer and she was analysing the various options she could have taken from the perspective of a skilled rider.

I suspect that for many of us, if we got into a similar situation, all we could do was to jam brake and hope for the best.

I really hope all students go to class with the attitude of learning as much as possible, not just hope to pass lessons and quickly get TP. The instructors have a lot to teach (I learn the most during circuit revision), much more than the test syllabus itself.

H ah, wa lao eh, you wait till you kenna bike accident then you know. Granted when I get into a bike accident, my first concern is always my bike but then again can you imagine your bike is ok but you have to pay thousands of dollars for medical bills? Hospital bill now damn expensive okay.

U Turn, while making the turn you must bank your bike while turning as well. But dont bank too much if its wet weather. That time raining I bank too much then self skid at the bloody Junction with everybody watching. Damn pai sei, but manage to faster pull the bike up and ride off when still red light. If not sure got alot of pissed off motorists.

I really agree with you. In fact, i failed my tp, i got a gross of 56 points, my circuit score 4pts with no immediate failure, i learned alot during the tp itself, things like cab dash out, i was horn by other drivers and many other things happened and it really open my eyes to see the actual traffic outside.

Well, not that my prac 6.1 and 2 did not go out to the road, but i did not met these situation before, so my reaction couldnt bland with the traffic well. I'm glad that i failed my tp.

haha FYI, my booklet is at the last page now, most of them are CR, which make me improve in my circuit skill, of cos there is a price to pay, i spend more then 1.5k in taking class 2b, that's the price i willing to pay because it has improve my riding skill and the understanding of my mistake since last april.

I'm not trying to boast myself for the fact tt i had failed for my 1st attempt, but i just want to encourage students out there not to give up, go for more CR.. it'll really helps. =)

woah.. i am truely impressed by the change in nature of this thread.

there is lots of sharing about safety now, which is a hell of a good topic.

i fully agree to the fact that TP test, u can come out with 0 points, and the next moment, once u are on the road, u crash and get into sh|t........

the reality remains -- when u are on L plate or on TEST, the drivers out there on the road are kinder and more tolerant towards u (occasional basta.rds still dun give a dam.n to us)

however, once u are a rider, with P-plate or not... u are pretty screwed....

drivers will not care about other drivers, they would be even more hostile towards riders

even if we are riding safely, the only riders that drivers will pay respect to on the road are those known as Traffic Police..... unless u are one, dun try your luck.....

a simple sneeze from the driver, and he accidentally twitch his hands on the steering wheel... BANG.... we are gone.........

so... lets all stay safe and sound......

ride with your mind, not your hands.......

haha.. guess we started the change because there are ppl out there is anxious about getting their license asap + at the lowest expenses, i was like that too.. but after i realise the importance of road safety, the $$ and my anxious issue was sway off my mind..

Last time when I take 2B I also chiong my lessons, fail, take next available slot. But it took me abt 6 months and 3 TPs for me to get my license. I however, do not regret my decision to chiong because at the time I wanted to get my license out as fast as possible. Immature, I know, but I went through 30 plus lessons and it was costing me money!

2 incidents, a few selfskids and some close calls later, I am very much a safer rider than when I just passed.

No Prob.

Without the rear brake, i wont be able to do a good U-turn

And without the rear brake, i dont think i can do a U-turn with 1 hand.

Rear brake is very important to me.

Finally managed to track down this video. A TV station did a feature of Dawn Champion. Watch her talk about her accident and her general philosophy of riding:

Julian! Where can we learn advanced riding (and falling kekeke) techniques?

Actually I also have a question about the defensive riding course.

Is the course similar to the army's defensive riding course? If not, I would love to enrol for one.

Anyone??? (actually this question is directed at our in-house driving instructor) :cheeky:
