wrong anyway when the gantry shows the timing it means during that duration will be that price. these motorist thought after 630pm the gantry will stop operation and waited at the side but in actual fact after 630pm becomes more expensive.

There are demerit points for stopping on the road shoulder too right? There was once I came to a gantry without my cashcard in. I saw some motorcyclists preparing to stop on the road shoulder but I decided to go through and pay the fine. Further up the road a TP was busy booking people who stopped. Lucky thing I didn't. Just paid $8+ for the admin fee niah instead of $100+ plus demerit points.

in summary...

best practice for cash cards in cars...just leave it in all the time and get a simple cover.

best practice for cash cards in bikes...put it in when you start your journey, remove it when you end.

negative. Having a plastic cover in your car's IU unit only tell potential thief that there's a cashcard there. Even worse is when there's is no cash card there and just the cover. You get your window smashed for nothing.

Anyone can ride a bike. Being a biker, is a state of mind.

Today is the 3rd time I failed my lesson 4 assessment :(. Very disappointed :(! I have put so many efforts in clearing mistakes and gaining confidence by asking instructors and went for RC a few times. But at the end of the day, I still failed :(. I am fully aware of the mistakes in every single step and try to avoid. But i was quite shocked when I got IF or points awarded for the mistakes I didn't make last time :faint:. I feel like the instructors' expectation is too high and we have to make it perfect for every single movement which nearly impossible for only ONE round of the assessment route. Most of the time it depends on our LUCK, the bike we choose for the assessment and how strict the instructor is. Dunno how many times I have to repeat!!! Almost give up!!!

Just don't give up. everyone eventually pass one day. If you stop, everything stop there and now. Assessments by instructors are actually more lenient, if you go to TP, every single act is scrutinised to minute details. You get wobbly, insufficient accerelation, postures, incorrect technique that you never aware of.

if u think the instructors' expectations are too high, then u gotta be mentally prepared that on ur TP day, the testers' expectations will be higher.

i pass my assessment only on my 6th attempt. sometimes i feel like giving up too, (the same reasons as u). Coz when i try to focus on not committing my common mistakes, i realise i got penalised for other mistakes which i didnt commit previously. But i can only blame myself for not being gd enough. i know the instructors have our interest at heart. if they anyhow pass us, when we go for road lessons or after we got our licence, the person being at a disadvantage is ourselves. the cars outside r driving at a much faster speed & not everyone will give way to us (learners) like inside the circuit.

So, learn for your own safety.. and not aiming to get a licence only. Dont give up, you're halfway there! =)

Your quote ->"I am fully aware of the mistakes in every single step and try to avoid. But i was quite shocked when I got IF or points awarded for the mistakes I didn't make last time"

Pls try to understand something. Doesn't mean u cross that same road everyday, doesn't mean that road will never have accident. Pple makes mistakes everytime. Knowing ur mistakes is 1 thing, but able to ride the bike skilfully is another thing. I know the technics on how to corner at the speed of 160km/h, but to execute this, this takes practice for me.

Your quote -> "I feel like the instructors' expectation is too high and we have to make it perfect for every single movement which nearly impossible for only ONE round of the assessment route."

U mentioned that u had an Immediate Failure. So does that mean our expectation is high? You had an immediate failure. We have to follow to the requirements of the lesson. Yes, u have to be as near perfect as possible for ur riding. Any small mistake u make on the public roads, could be the last mistake u'll ever make.

And yes, its only 1 round of ur test. how many rounds u want? do u take ur 'O' levels twice?

I don't mean to be sacarstic. I'm trying to state a point. Pls dont blame us for being strict if u're not doing well. I hope u won't give. There are many riders who did their assessment more than 5 times. i've even seen 15 times before.

If u really want to improve and learn to be a better rider, pls look for me.

You have only 18 points. So you're right, you have to make things almost perfect. It is not impossible - many of us have passed the TP test before you.

Focus on doing everything right instead of avoiding doing things wrong.

Hi Mr. Corse,

Thanks for your explanation and advice. Of course, I didn't blame the instructors cos I know they only want us to become good and safe riders. Btw, you are my instructor for lesson 3 and helped me with the proper E-brake technique. You are one of my favorite instructors :)

I was just a bit disappointed since I have prepared very carefully and put my best effort and confidence to this assessment. I took note every single mistake I made after each assessment, clarified with instructors and learned them by heart. I went to CR the day before but I didn't have a chance to practice the crank course (which is my weakest point) due to construction :(. More than that, before going to bed at night, I tried to visualize the test route and what I have to do in every single step. I was confident I have prepared well enough and should have passed. But it didn't turn out as I expected ...

I got an IF (nearly accident) when I turned left after the slope, which I have never encoutered before. After the assessment, I asked one instructor but he was also not very sure. He said that maybe I didn't turn smoothly. Until now I am still not very clear why that point costs me an IF :(

I wish we are allowed to take the assessment route twice and choose the best result. Because I think even if we can ride smoothly during CR and warm up, it doesn't mean we can perform the same result right after the instructor's hand signal during the assessment. There is a little of LUCK in that moment. But Mr. Corse, you are right, even a small mistake on public road, that could be the last mistake we have ever made.

And last but not least, thanks for everyone's encouragement. I will go for more CR and take the assessment until I pass!!! :)
