Its cool bike!!! :)

Seems like the shape of the headlights looks sharper than the pic from yamaha.

the new bike should have a more comfy seat than the previous version, have you verify it ?

the 04 to 06 fz6's seats are abit hard.. so your backside tend to ache during long distance. yamaha said they made changes to it. have to wait your feedback then...

are you going for the fz outing on friday? if u r, i'll sure drop by to take a look at the new fz6... :cheeky:

Just went for the newbie outing and saw Luvpuzzle and Prelude's new 07 Fazer 1000s. Very lovely bikes.

Just my share of opinion for the 07 Fazer with some comparisons from being a R1 rider since there was so much hype about it being an evolution from the supersport series.

My first impressions:

-Beautiful, perfect colour combinations (unlike the 07 R1s).

-Great headlight and cowling design.

-Low, short handle bar which makes it look very street sporty.

-The tail light was abit disappointing as it wasn't made LED like the R1.

-Was expecting the headlights to have R1 similar setup, 2 x high beam + 2 x projector beams for better illumination. But all the Fazer has is only 2 x normal headlight, one for high beam and one for low if I'm not wrong.

-The LCD instrument/speedo display was nice, love digital stuffs.

-The Fazer was surprisingly light. Though the specs stated about 200kg for dry weight. It feels even lighter than my R1 which is supposed to be ~170 dry.

-The mainstand is well positioned for easy mounting and dismounting.

-Comes with 43 mm fully adjustable front fork, radical. Great for alittle customisation depending on your usage. Track, road or touring.

-The 18 litre fuel tank was abit disappointing though, too small for a perceived sports tourer. If I'm not wrong its predecessors had bigger tanks.

-Lovely 190 big rear tyre, more stability, more traction. Meaning you can open the throttle earlier out of corners without sliding around. :p

-The traditonally mounted calipers were abit disappointing. Thought they have used a radial mounted setup instead. The brakes feel weebit spongy.

-I love the way that the IU can be mounted under the handle bar on the cowling. Easy access yet not looking ugly.

-The stock wind shield seems to serve no purpose, too low to block anything.

-EXUP valves, might be a good performance gadget. But tend to cause seizure if not whacked open often according to R1 riders. Another reason to speed blast up NSH.

-Aluminium chassis was one of the good stuff I admired at today on the Fazers. Mainly deployed on today's high-end supersports motorcycles. Good for weight reduction but pray that you'll never crash badly. The lightened aluminium frames tend to have problems taking impact, that's what that were reflected on most modern sportsbike.

-The rear seat compartment is too small to put anything sensible inside other than the blood sucking coupons. Even my R1 has bigger rear seat compartment to comfortably put in disc lock and an IU.

-Lovely sturdy pillion grab handles for confident 2-up riding, great for couples. Not many bikes have good grab rails like this one, awesome.

-The wide seat and large tank made me feel alittle inconfident about the riding posture though. It feels abit like the bike is controlling you more than you are controlling it, sh*t happens when you have short fat legs.

Will I buy one if I have the money? Not likely. Maybe because I have not tried riding it yet so I can't judge it without assessing its performance. But I am sure it does not have the torque and comfort like a FJR or STX, nor the grunt and speed like the supersports class. It probably has a top speed near to the FJR and STX only. If it has a R1 engine then I think it will be hot to ride one, very hot, balls-burningly hot. Then again, maybe not.

i think it's only fair to even compare the FZ1 against any of the big tourers only after having rode one for a significant amount of time. Having just stick your butt on one, or even just having rode one around in a carpark is not equivalent of it being a proper test ride.

And I think the FZ1 was created not to be a true tourer like FJR or STX, nor was it created to be a Supersports. So why the comparison? And even though it is neither of the classes above, you will be surprised at how well the FZ1 stacks up in both catergories.

Not flaming here, just my 2 cents.

Well I never even rode it in the carpark. LoL.

Merely thought I should give a piece of my mind after looking at this gorgeous bike. I was just stating my 1st impressions (mainly aesthetical) and giving my comparison opinions based on my personal needs, it is by no means representing any public or individual's perception to acknowledge what the bike is built for. Hope I didn't invoke any Fazer-aficionado animosity.

Actually my verdict was quite positive despite my conclusion of not buying one and ofcourse some negative comments. There is probably no second choice if you were to ask me to get a street bike or street-sports-tourer hybrid, there is only Fazer which can appeal to me.

Cheers.

I rode the r1 b4 , so comparing the hotness of the r1 engine , the FZ1 runs cooler .

From wat i know , i believe the top speed of FJR & the FZ1 is almost the same . I tried FJR b4 , its quite comfy while on the trunk rds , but when going on the small rds in the small towns of M'sia , i still prefer riding the FZ1 .

The FZ1 was not meant to be a tourer , let alone a sports tourer . Its more akin to a street bike . The reason which explains the 18L tank as compared to those 20L+ is the change from carb to injection , which takes up space due to the air box .

The use of radial brakes is quite redundant in tis class of bikes , as it wun c much track activity . Anyway , i dun feel much difference after usage of the radial brakes on the r1 to using traditional brake on the FZ1 . Upgrading of the brake lines do help in enhance braking capabilities .

The rear seat compartment is small , but still quite ok . I manage to squeeze my insurance , rd tax , coupons , gloves , cloth n a par of rain pants into it .

Anyway , i had no regrets switching from the 04R1 to the FZ1 , except tat i miss track days n the insane top speeds , which has since been gradually taken over by the feeling of comfiness & relaxed riding styles .

got it @ a 'special price', but i'm sure tat e market rate for a 07 FZ6 is from 14.4k onwards, depending on yr age, riding experience, COE, NCD....

Not a problem bro!
