If you work as a dispatch rider and your boss would like to reward you, would you prefer your boss to buy something (like motor oil, 2t, new helmet, boots, gloves, box etc) all wrapped up and so there is an element of surprise... or would you prefer he gave you a $50 voucher from a motor shop and you go pick up something you like?

That was discussed among us new colleagues too.

One of our bozz was trying to suggest to give us rewards like free nights stay at Conrad Hotels and so on. But since we know its all given to them free. We feel that for good jobs well done......we prefer cash!

What about petrol vouchers??

Are you doing this because you want to reward your riders or are you a dispatch rider yourself? I'm getting the vibe that you are the former.

Let me put it simply for you. Dispatch riders, or anyone else in fact, needs money. Not something for their bike. You give $50, your rider knows exactly what he wants to do with it. Everyone has different lives. Perhaps he needs the money to buy milk powder for his baby, or buy some food for dinner that night. Whatever the reason is, be it desperate or not, the money can always be used for something that the rider needs in his life.

For example, if you give me motor shop voucher or the items itself, i really, really don't know what i can do with them, except sell them. Petrol vouchers may be good, but if the person pump another brand or whatnot, then its kinda hard for him because different bikes, different riders, have different needs and preferences.

The best is give money. Unless it some company policy, then the next best thing are petrol vouchers.

Doesn't matter. As long as its free. Its the thought that counts :).

I'm thankful if I got bosses who gave presents, some of the ones I've got don't even treat you like a human being, using fear and threaten tactics let alone give free stuff.

I want to do this because I feel that my riders are hardworking but my big bosses are not around to see the work and effort put in. I'm not a rider, but I feel that some of them really deserve some reward for not being 'calculative' or 'draw line'.

Company got a 'No Cash Reward' policy... thats my headache... if can, easy for me, just give angbao lor... sigh~~~

hahas, you'll still got xmas surprise everything..later still got year end bonus..i'm working for someone who hate bikes to the core and thats no other than my dad..best is increase in pay..

Our riders are already being paid $7/hr, and docket bonus is between $1 and $5.... if i suggest to boss to increase pay for riders.... my head will roll.....

Riding is dangerous, the more you ride, the more you expose yourself, its pure maths. An increase under guise of risk pay would be nice, most who work as riders aren't rich people. If you can pay more to get people to sit inside the office and do nothing, why not pay people who risk their lives on the road more?
