Anyone replaced the rectifier so far? I went down to KS Motor recently and apparently, they are not aware what type of rectifier the Boulevard uses and I have to bring mine down to show him. My mileage is close to 50,000km and I think the end-of-product-life is near. Intend to standby one piece rather than have a bike shop slaughter me later on when its towed in.

Hello Bro, I am riding boulevard myself. Hope you still read this.

The speed depends on the terrain. If it is up a slope, you will probably get 130km/h. Try it at CTE Chin Swee tunnel from north to south direction. It will probably give you 140++.

Once I was in Malaysia highway going down a gentle hill, it gives me 150km/h.

Cheers.

Good day all!

I'm looking for a Shadow or Boulevard 400cc.

Anyone selling? Or know of anyone selling? Kindly PM me. Thanks!

Probably selling one at the end of the year. If you can wait, I can give you a bargain.

My 130km per hour was done on Second Link, towards the final Shell station back to Singapore. I think its probably slightly down slope. Your Boulevard tuned better than mine! :)

Does it really affect much.

I know for a fact it matters for cars, measured before between SPC's synthetic vs Shell Helix Ultra, 15% difference in terms of average fuel consumption. So it pays to buy a better oil from the start as it helps you reduce fuel consumption. As for bikes, I have only stuck to the same brand almost all the way, never changed, so was asking the question if anyone had information on that.

To share something with you fellow Boulevard riders. Apparently, there is no stock rectifier for this model available locally. I have gone to KS, Guan Hoe, Chong Aik Looi's and Ever Success... KS and Guan Hoe, although Suzuki distributors, do not carry rectifiers for Boulevard as they say its parallel imported. And you will get a lot of cock and bull from these two shops as the assistants there tend to think parallel imported bikes are a nuisance. They asked me to bring a spare. How do I bring a spare where there is only one around? I have taken a few photographs at various angles, with dimensions on them measured against a ruler and asked them to take a look but I get nasty comments from these old farts. Anyway, screw them.

Looi's themselves do not have the component although they bring in the bikes. I have tried enquiring a few times over this year, consistently same answer.

So eventually, I had to modify a rectifier to fit. I got the rectifier for a Suzuki bike that is 1000cc, model unknown, from Ever Success near Mustafa. The chap there is very friendly and has entertained my questions for a good 20 minutes while getting the rectifier out for me to measure... length, breadth and the space between mounting holes.

You be in for a nasty surprise when your rectifier fails and you are not able to get spares. I am not familiar with the life span of these things but my bike is gonna hit 60,000km soon, so am changing it preemptively.

So if you guys know where to get stock rectifier for this bike, appreciate if you could share it. Otherwise, it may save you loads of trouble doing it before your bike dies on you.:thumb:

Why not try to import from Japan or USA. I have never tried searching myself. Probably amazon might has it. Let u know if i find one.

Dont know what is the life span of a rectifier though. I believe it should be more than 100K..

If you know the model number of the product, its probably easier but I don't. My last bike was a Shadow Slasher. The rectifier lasted slightly lesser than 40,000km. The mechanic I go to tells me to prepare to change around 60,000km. Hence I have been sourcing around only to realise its a tough find locally. If you are riding a Boulevard as well, prudent to prepare for the day and start looking for options now.

Another one of ebay - 2007 Suzuki M109 RK7 Boulevard Rectifier :

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2007-Suzuki-M109-RK7-Boulevard-Rectifier-/380151319268?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item5882c8cae4#ht_1185wt_1091

Looking at the number of cables - 5 of them, I will think that our rectifier is a 3 phase rectifier. I read from some website that we can replace any even diy from the electronic shop.

Seriously if it breaks down, you can just get anything with 5-6 pins which can fit in. Shouldnt be any issue. All motor bike batteries are more or less within the same range.

Now you make me go back to study my basic again - back to being electrical engineering student.

Cheers.

Sorry that I missed your valuable comments earlier. The original rectifier on the Boulevard is 7 cables, not 5. The socket ends are also of a specific shape and dimension which you can't simply hook up with any other rectifier even with the same number of pins. Some modification is necessary in my case but to begin with, you need a 7 cable unit. No big problem, just cut the socket of the original rectifier, connect onto the new rectifier and then finally mating it together with the bike.

Hi All, has anyone changed rear brake shoes before?

I had mine changed a few weeks ago and it is giving me a squeaking noise whenever I break to stop.

Do you have similar experience?

By the way the brake shoes I use is from Suzuki for Intruder.

Thank you.

You probably have to let it run in for awhile, same thing for me including the front pads. But how's the braking power? If its good enough, there shouldn't be anything to be concerned about.

Thanks for the comment.

The braking is perfect expect for the noise. The front brake noise has subsided quite a bit.

The drum is making such inconsistent noises. Sometimes I thought I am driving some old car. The noise experience is driving me nuts man.

How long did it take for your drum brake to become normal again?
