Hi bros,

Just wanted some feedback on the airest / coolest riding jacket? Weather is super hot recently..... Any recommendations?

Singlet and shorts. :-p

Jokes aside, look for thin, lightweight designs. Mesh jackets don't work well in urban settings, esp. stuck in a jam. Try Brosh, Dainese or BMW. Komine, RS Taichi, AStar, Rjays... they work better as touring jackets.

Hmmm... I'm lost... How is a Mesh Jacket not "well" in urban setting? Care to inpart your knowledge... thanks...

You mean textiles? or leathers?

Cause, mesh jackets have the best air-flow among all of the materials.

Let me clarify. I left out a word there.

Most mesh jackets don't work well in our tropical urban setting due to the weight and thickness of the design. Get stuck in a jam (which is a daily occurrence) and you'll know what I mean.

The Komine, RS Taichi, Rjays and A*star models available locally are all too thick and heavy to be comfortable on a stationary bike.

The more bearable ones in our heat and humidity are from BMW, Brosh and Dainese, all thin and light designs. Brosh is the most affordable but sacrifices style and some protection. The other two are pricey but you get what you pay for.

ventilation on mesh jackets are alrite to me, though too thick (but i prefer that for abrasion-resistance in an accident). however, the most uncomfortable for me is the back protector. it will stick to my back and make it all wet.

I'm having a Komine Mesh Jacket which I wear for my touring way up north... and it's works nice for me...

It's light and comes with CE Certified Armour...

Under local weather, most jacket even a thin Wind Breaker will make you "Hot" under local afternoon Sun...

Thanks all the bro... actually, I dropped by Motoworld before posting here. totally agree that the mesh jackets are thick, that's why I hesitate to buy them although my pals told me just get the mesh jackets....

I saw some Dainese racing suits in motoworld as well, did I remember wrongly? but more for track usage... not daily riding.

Any other place with good selection of riding jackets?

BMW - Really really expensive.... are them that good?

BMW is really really good. The Air Flow 4 is probably the best mesh jacket around, price notwithstanding.

So what's the price range like?

Some are, yes. Many aren't. I've seen many riders on expensive zenged machines wearing $30 helmets and berms. The most valuable accessory on any bike is the rider and not an Akrapovic exhaust.

How about in the $200-$400 range? Any compromise, dun really wanna spend $800 on a BMW jacket coz saving the money for a DS helmet and they ain't cheap either.

The best I've found are already mentioned. Have a look at dainese.

There is a big quality gap between BMW and the rest though. Like I say, you get what you pay for.

Spend a day looking around online and at Regina, Chiap Lee, Motoworld, PML, JR, Chong Aik and several others. Form your own opinion and convince yourself.

Use the BMW Jacket as a benchmark for comparison. For example, the commonly held belief that hard armor equals better protection is incorrect. There's nothing hard about the Air Flow.

Sry I dont really get what u mean at the last sentence.

Hard armour = bad air flow?

my A Star TRC 1 Air Flo is ok for me.

i do sweat a little when i get off, but it's bearable since it looks good and comes with protection for chest, back and shoulders/elbows.

February 2011 - March 2012 = Phantom TA 200

March 2012 - August 2013 = Suzuki Impulse 400

Present = BMW (Bus, MRT, Walk)
