I assume there is collectors of old bikes. That's why I was thinking of that. Even just the body....

I guess it is just kind of a headache....I think a gonna scrap it. Story closed.

Thanks for your advise.

Warranty on IU should be still there since it was set up about 3 years back.

Thanks for your advise.

Thanks for your opinion.

Is there no vintage value anymore?

How about the IU? Can I sell that of easlily?

The bike was for service in the shop 2 weeks before the incedent.

When u srap, no need to pay money to them ... if they ask, then ask them to take the IU and parts of ur ET8 and u tell them seperately .... Thats how the shops have been earning

Sellers INITIATE their prices,

Buyers NEGOTIATE their prices,

Final deal is closed when both parties FIXED their prices.

most of the fuel pump problems are resolved.

They changed the existing faulty ones to upgraded ones flown from Italy HQ.

But I guess there is never a certain 100% all is retified but I am sure Piaggio Service Centre has

reinforced a strong warranty for this issue.

Hi all, I am planning to buy a vespa and there are too many models and some of different year and I am unsure of the price and depreciation of each model and its hidden value if any. I have since viewed PX 150 and LX 150, however, the PX 150 has since been sold, just left with the LX 150, anyone knows the current price of:

Vespa LX 150 (reg: Year 2005)

Please help, thanks. :D

Or

anyone can recommend which model or year and its pricing there or about? ..

I have my own car and I am just looking for a transport / project bike.. either to rebuild or just enjoy a smooth ride on a classic / modern version vespa :)

Hey theodore Bro,

By noticing the number of LXs on the road...this model is no doubt the most popular model from Vespa.

a 2005 model is the carb model, if i am correct, it should also be the last year model with the kickstarter.

This carb model is much simpler engine to troubleshoot then the the newer FI version, but of course, the FI version is

much smoother then the carb version. Every morning starting the FI version is a breeze too.

If you are a big size rider, then probably should consider the Vespa GT200. but this model cost alittle more then the LXs

of the same age but they are much nicer to ride with more power at the back of your hand.

When new, LX cost about $8000plus, GT was selling about the same price but they stopped selling around 2007/2008 where the COE is much lower, so u have to base on this factor to weight the resale.

Hope my opinion helped :)

Excel are manufactured in Indonesia, when at that time, Piaggio Italy has tied up a contract having an factory in Indonesia.

Excels didnt last too long before the manufacturing line call it quits...subsequent classic Vespa models fell back to Italy factories that eventually to today's PX.

Excels are generally dated in designed due to the period of manufacture (generally about more then 15 years old)

PX has a few series before the Excels and after it...the PX200s and the most recent one the PX150s. all of them are still on 2 strokes.

If you can afford it, try to get the latest PX150s, it is generally newer, thus more reliable.

But personally i would love the raw 200s...provided it is a good condition one...hehe

Hope my posting helped...

Hi!! Thanks alot for your opinion, I'm more familia with the car maket but Is it the same theory in calculating for depreciation?

E.g.

2005 Lx priced at $8k

As at 2012, the bike is 7yrs old so $8k over 10yrs is $800/yr depreciation

As such, 7yrs is $5.6k depriciation and the value, as at 2012, would be $2.4k?

The lx 05' is asking at $3.5k is it too expensive?

HI

thanks for the reply.

I'm looking for a reasonable bike with good look so i do not have to spend on the repaint. what if the excel is refurbished but at $3k with 1 yr on coe?

hmm Kenneth Bro,

depends on how well the refurbushings are. 3k i felt, is a little on the high side.

The 1yr coe is further not making the pricetag justifiable.

do you have a link or pictures that we could have a view together?

depri on bikes are totally different from the depri calculation of a car.

car can go on black n white calculation.

for bike...the primary value assesment depends much on the demand of the bike in the market.

Two main criteria to assess the demand of a bike is 1. proven realiability and 2.heritage value.

ifnthe bike you are looking at consist of one of the above factors, or both...then the price has sky as the limit if they score on many of the secondary factors...

secondary, you would consider the condition (ie paint condition, mileage etc), coe values, coe reminder and accessories that comes with the bike.

to me Vespa has a remarkable primary values....and if the secondary conditions are right, the price tag can be quite hefty and depri is almost down to a minimum.

for a LX150 2005 at 3.5k sounds very reasonable. check out the secondary factors. if much of them is good, then u could go for it.

hope my opinion helped :-)

It looks pretty good. But I'm not sure with the reliability underneath the paint. Still can't really get much info on the Excel and compared with a PX. Or should I get a cheap PX and go mod it up.
