how can i know whether it is semi or full? how many km can full last? and how is semi?

most of the engine oil will have label on the bottle itself.

if unsure, just Google it to the manufacture www.

for x1,just use those semi syn engine oil and replace very 2500-3000km.

you cam change earlier it you want.

i use cheap $7 engine oil and change every 2,000km for the last 20,000km. it run totally fine. yesterday i changed to a $20 per litre synthetic oil as i got it for free and there is no different.

just use any decent brand oil at the correct viscosity and you will be good. don't sweat over the details. there alot of bikes out there that clock hundreds of thousands to even more then a million kilometer with cheap mineral oil. your kup will be just fine...

thanks for your answers.

I changed VIPER 4T 20W40 yesterday at a bike shop at $10. I took back the box with 100ml left. but there is no indication about if it si semi or full syn. in this case, how could i know when will be my next servicing?

where to buy the $7 engine oil?

another question, if $7 engine oil lasts every 2000km, and $20 full syn lasts $10000km. It seems the $20 is cheaper than $7 as $7*5=$35 for $10000km.

i buy 5 litres bottle HDEO from malaysia. i sure it can last 3,000-5,000km but since it is cheap, i just dump it at 2,000km as i am using K&N air filter:P it a cheap insurance. HDEO is know to be more shear stable then some of the full synthetic oil out there.

well... it depend on your ride. you sure you want to run your oil to 10,000km with a roughly 1 litre sump + engine running at 7,000rpm @ about 80-90km/h for so long? even my kup manual recommend change at 6,000km which i doubt many follow.

spare yourself from the details. for a small bike, run a good full synthetic to about 4,000-5,000km and call it a day. if you are really interested in learning about engine oil, type "BITOG" at google.

yes. it mineral oil. to be precise, it is group II+ base oil. very similar properties to group III unconventional oil except having lower viscosity index:P as my oil bottle say, rival synthetic:cheeky:

For me, my honda cub(fuel injection) i used the castrol 4T 20w40. Its a white bottle with red colour cap. It even has a little cub icon on the label.

Got it from L-Ah Boy, for just $5. Where by, i always change at every 3000km. So far machine still running well :)

Anyone have any feedback on this? :)

it Castrol GO. i not sure if 3,000km is too long but if it work well for you why fix it:thumb:

just make sure the oil is not too watery or overly thick and sticky should be ok. not scientific but that the next best things to do.
