I changed my horn to the stebel magnum 2 horn around 2mth ago ba.. everything was fine.. n nice..=) no problem at all wor.... and the horn is loud n the headlight is bright..=)

anyway.. maybe is nt ur battery got problem.. is ur rectricfer?? signal light dun flash at all is dangerous leh... better solve this problem real soon..

Check your chain mike... shd be the due to the weight of ur frenz... make the chain extend too much.. n not enough lubricant... tat y end up having that funny n scary sond... juz check ur chain.. c issiz too loose or too tight..

yeah. feel very unsafe when riding the bike when the signals and horn don't work. when first got the bike, the shop gave me those tiny toy mirrors, the rear view angle so small that it was practically useless. that night, really felt very scared and frustrated when on the road.

so how can one be sure that it is a rectifier problem?

and btw, you can actually find space to fit the pair of stebel horns in your fairing?

(and oh yeah, chain problem not mine :) )

sure can find space to mount horn de.. at 1st i oso tot not poss... den went to mech.. he found space within 10min..

u dun like the mirrors den change back to the original size one lo..

as for rectifier prob.. i tink if ur batt frequently gets discharged despite freqyent riding... i.e speedo light flickers... neutral lite flickers... headlite dim.. horn no sound or damn soft..

just checking with the SP lau cheows here...

SP no longer in production already, right? if so, when was the last year of production?

is the bike generally reliable? or does it have certain weak points that always flare up?

got an FT bike, now thinking maybe want to sell it away and get a KRR instead, cos KRR still in production. (sorry fellas, don't mean to offend anybody, just that my current bike very frustrating; keep getting electrical problems, and it is barely 5 days old).

anyone tried selling their bike back to the shop after buying it for less than a a month? how much depreciation happens over the period?

SP is quite reliable. the problems you are facing now could just be some loose wiring or something. electrical probs? seriously this bike doesnt have many electrical probs. why dont you go another bike shop to get them to check it throughly? the only BIG (and irritating) problem i know of is the fact that the SP cluch housing ALWAYS gets loose. even if you repair it, it'll get loose again after some time. thats why you sometimes hear 'toktoktok' sounds from some SPs.

if you sell the SP now, you WILL lose the interest, and since you got it from the shop? they wont take in the bike at the same price you bought it for, so you'll make a loss there also. insurance you will only get back 3/4 of the remaining amount if you let go of the bike. KRR is still in production, but are you sure you wont get problems also when you buy another 2nd hand bike? unless you are talking about a first hand, why bother? you might as well just do up the SP, spend a couple hundred yes, but isnt that expected when you buy a 2nd hand bike?

there is no such thing as a problem free 2nd hand bike, however the previous owner takes care of the bike, there are bound to be some problems here and there. its only how big the problem is. imho, your problem is quite a small one, not worth selling since you just got it to get another bike ^^

guess i will stick to this. maybe spend money on a new rectifier (if that is the problem).

just frustrated cos this is my second bike from the same shop; i got a used phantom, which never gave me any problems at all, so i though this shop was reliable and had high quality maintenence before selling their second hand bikes. so when i got there, looked at the first one, with the smallest mileage, and just bought it without doing research in this forum as to what to look for in a used SP.

FT bike 37k on odometer sound relaible? or is it actually 137k???

at the shop, there was a new KRR, and actually i went to the shop wanting to buy a KRR, just that the new KRR would have cost almost 2k more than this bike.

what's a good workshop that deals with SPs around the bukit merah area? anybody been to ah koon near redhill mrt, who specialises in phantom service?

i think i need a mech who really knows how to debug the electrical problems.

looking at the engine with the fairing off, kinda scary looking - there are some cables which are not well connected to the alternator (i think); everything seems ok, but just not durably connected. seems like the last mech to work on the bike was quite shoddy. sometimes, i wish i could DIY. anybody know where to find the SP shop manual?
