Hey guys, my piaggio X8 200 seems to have some leak of water(doesn't look like oil/petrol) from bottom. Anyone know what could be the problem? Is it the water pump spoilt? The leak is just a few drops and after i turn off the bike to park after the ride.. during the ride doesn't seem to be leaking.. Also the fan seems to be running after only few kms and some sound coming from front near the fan.. could someone pls advise?

ermm.. sory bro. this is GTS forum.. not piagio but SYM, and for your bike.. if its coming near the fam.. it might be the hose attachment loose or maybe the radiator leak.

had a really bad day today.

called up QUIAN LONG AUTO PARTS at JB to check whether the spare parts i order for my scooter is ready for collection. the manager told me it is ready to collection. on the way there, i drop my spare Nokia phone which i use as GPS. the phone ran over by a couple of cars and the external condition is quite bad. surprising, the screen is still intact and GPS is still working:cheer:

but when i went down, they told me the parts i order will take another 1 to 2 weeks. the manager made a mistake :mad:

as i do not want to make a waste trip, i went down to Mforce service centre to service my bike. upon arriving there at 1240hrs, they told me the mechanic is out for lunch and will only back at 2pm so they recommend me to go down to the dealer which is nearby. went down to SH TWO motorcycle trading and told them i want to change the front bearings and service the CVT.

after changing and half way from home, i realize when travelling at 90km/h the RPM is near 7000 where normally it is only 6000. so U-turn back and ask the mechanic to check. he re-assemble the CVT and ask me to try. i took a short ride and turn back as there is no improvement. i told him to try and he can't figure out what happen so he asked Mforce foreman for suggestion.

the foreman told him to change the alternator. he say there is lack of power. i think he say that due to my scooter battery indicator light is on which is a sensor fault. by then i need to rush back home for family dinner so i didn't change and need to go back another day.

any suggestion? i don't think it the alternator fault. i think it the CVT. please advice.

During the CVT servicing. did you change belt or roller ?

@mudai

I changed roller, contra spring and u-clips. the belt is still good.

I suspect the contra spring is too stiff affecting the ability of the CVT of going into higher gear ratio. I called them up and told them to keep my old spring and will go down tmrw to fix back the old spring. the roller is original so I don't think the weight is wrong?

ah i see you change the spring too, your old roller might be lighter after used, the new roller come to it's original weight.. could have affect on it too.

weight of original might not be wrong.. and so does the rpm ... 90km @7k using original roller is look normal.

a heavier roller should be able to bring the gear ratio higher easier as it have more mass for the centrifugal force to throw outward? a stiffer contra spring might prevent the roller from going outward easily.

oh... 90km/h @ 7000 is normal? before servicing it was only 6000 rpm. i really enjoy that setup more although now the pick up and going up slope is smoother. most of my journey is highway condition as well.

going in now. will update here.

yes that is true.. but from the experience when change to original roller the rpm and pickup also deteriorate or back to normal. happened to me before.. on the roller weight seem there is no exact behavior. when the CVT is heavy and start rotating, the belt will try to push it self inside.. maybe you new spring is less stiffer than old one.. but i solve that by using slider. not im using malossi roller only 13.5 gram + pollini spring.. i can get 6.2k - 6.5k cruising @100km/h
