Big bike , more contact area , but if tyre botak , still back to square 1 . A good condition tyre on a 2B bikes is way btr then a botak tyre on a cl2 bike .

What if we put the rider factor as a constant test variable? Rossi on Super 4 vs Rossi on CBR400 through a series of turns? I think the Sportsbike will still edge out.

If someone finds the sport bike position tiring and interferes with his handling of the bike? End up he cannot corner properly....Putting this person into both types of bikes, he may perform better with the non-sport bike.

So, its still a matter of the rider.

Hi IDevil.

Is 400cc bikes and above safer...?

You ask that question yourself 'are you safer or will you be safer' on that 400cc and above bikes? as some guys already replied for that; a *safer rider on any types of bike would be safe ~ himself and to other road user.

*Confidence, road knowledge, patient, awareness and consideration to other road users. You Are Safe!

Not forgetting the bikes characteristic's...too!

That's why we have to assume the rider will perform the same for all bikes.

If it's the rider, then create this thread for what?

IMHO i personally feel class 2A and above bikes, their tyres are quite fat thus more contact point and better cornering compared to those kups (sorry). Their wheels are so thin and i personally seen them skidded before in MSCP.

My conclusion, bigger bikes fatter wheels more safer. :cheer:

What abt big fat cheapo tyres VS Good compound small tires?

I think tires perform at its best only when they are warmed up properly. Bigger bikes tend to have tires that grip better because due to their weight on the tires, the tires warm up faster, For smaller CC bikes lik ethe Kups, thay ae a lot lighter, so presumably it will take longer to warm up to optimise grip.

Yes, i had seen and had some small skids in MSCP before, but i have also seen a super4 Spill while taking a bend on a dry road.

You got see R1 skid in MSCP before? Actually it's about the same lah, equally slippery.

As again, we should compare 1 thing at a time, and hold other factors constant.

Fat tyres vs thin tyres of same compound.

Poor compound vs good compound for both fat and thin tyres.

Yo Guys,

Each and every tyres design to its bikes capacity so you don't except to see a bigger bikes using a small tyre or vice versa. Bigger tyres have other minor problems more traction effects on speed and looses the agility and you get slower steering/turning and thats the fact, and the bikes power make up to it. If you have tried different type of tyres on your bike you'll notice the difference... if not, I cannot blame you for not knowing.

Each tyres have speed rating on the sidewall replace tyres according to your riding style and bikes CC.

I hope here riders, would not slap in cheap tyres on their bike and compromise their safety. Remember its the only contact between your bike and road. Further more we do not have a constant weather here in asia.

bigger tyres more grip, so its better i think.

I'm affraid you are incorrect. To ilustrate that, try to fit 120/190 tyres on a 2A Class bike and you'll see the results.

"CORRECT TYRE OF EACH INDIVIDUAL BIKE" is correct and safe.

supposed to be 2B, not 2A

So I can assume that same rider for both 2B(smaller tires) and 2A(bigger tires) both bike have equally new and best condition tires, 2A bikes will offer better grip on the road in both sunny and wet weather because the contact area is more.

One more intriguing question:

Would the rider not be the same when he upgrades to a higher engine capacity bike? Bike handing and tyre-grip reliability might have changed since extra power is at hand for the rider, and that the weight of the bike [might] have increased.

It would be easier for us to compare 2 similar bikes, 2 tyres with the same compound, same tread pattern, but with different tyre widths -- I would probably say that the one with the wide tyres have some grip improvements.

However, comparing 2 totally different bikes -- throw in factors such as suspension types and load settings, bike design, weight, rider-input-on-bigger-bike, etc... and we might have results that surpass or contradict bike stability on both sunny and wet road environments.

So my simplified answer(s) to your question are Maybe. Maybe not?

The answer is yes. Provided same speed.
