if u r asking for preferences, i like 190 cus contact surface more when corners.. the rest e.g weight, etc r not under my concern list.. as long i feel safe or safer with that, i'll stick to that.. :)

lolx, i 2nd that ~ :thumb:

some may also highlight that 190 has bigger area surface, more resistance on the road tarmac which results in high petrol consumption...but imho, its too little to be noticeable lah

1st 2 pics shows the chain almost touching the main stand..

http://i728.photobucket.com/albums/ww289/skateboy_28/DSC_0066.jpg

3rd pic shows the main stand actually touching the linkage for the rear suspension...

so i just use rubber sheet n wrap round the main stand which looks like this.

n after effect,

not sure how long can this method last...

i knew of akrapovic endcan got come with a bracket so that it prevents this prob.

went seng kwang, quote $40 to extend a bracket frm the arrow mid pipe to bring the main stand lower.

any better solutions?

actually, ur rubber sheets already solved the problems + the knocking of sound when ever u bring ur bike down from main stand.. no need to spend extra monie to get a bracket done like that la.. the rubber stuffs should be able to last u for long..

btw, where u get the rubber sheets? i also wan to do lei.. my akra backet is there & good but i always had that knocking of sound of my main stand & the bracket when ever i bring my bike down from main stand.. :)

problem not solved, cant be the main stand suddenly just hit the chain when nothing was done to it mah unless it comes stock like this lolx

last time i got a bike also with this problem. I tried to find solutions but the best i could come up with was the same as skateboy. add a piece of rubber.. cos the chain is not loose, everything put back togehter properly but still the chain is too close to the stand. also happened when changed chain.

most likely chain adjustment block not pushed back in, still set at the old chain position which factored in chain stretch. hence additional 1 more link installed and the chain sag.

Stock is good...Choose your weapon wisely and enjoy it...you can have all the $$$$ to mod and in the end you can't make full use of it....

temp solve the prob. but bcos the exhaust is oso quite near to the rubbers, i do fear the rubber sheets will give way esp riding at malaysia when the travelling time n distance is alot more longer.

i got the rubber sheets from my work place. :D

nobody took out the mainstand. b4 that, i did fork n rear shock servicing, wheel n steering cone bearing replacement, tire replacement, n of cos, chain n sprocket replacement too. so, there's no reason for the main stand to b taken out.

so wat shop did u go to?

was wondering, did he change spocket size too? hmmm..

nope. 17/45 530 chain size...

hmmm.... mayb i can have that checked.. but then, the chain tension is there. not loose at all....

can i also ask, do anybody have this issue on their fz1s? where the mainstand touches the rear shock linkage? esp so with aftermarket pipe cos stock pipe, the rubber on the main stand will come in contact with the stock pipe hence leaving ample clearance for the chain n main stand.

You may ask Seng Kwang to do this for you to support the main stand, underneth this latch there is an extended metal where the main stand touch.

those rubber sheets should be able to last you for long.. a cheaper alternatives to fabricating brackets..

like what sICkbOi-dOt-cOm mentioned, yes his previous owner did that too.. that it last him for very long till he sell his bike.. lol.. no problems with riding be it in SG or MY or even further..

actually, you don't need to worry much.. :)

i saw the H.O.D bulb from here..... anyway... i notice the radiator fins is very soft and easy to bent... any way to prevent this?

i agree with sICkbOi-dOt-cOm.. seen the link you gave too.. just wish to share that any kind of white light will be a piece of crap especially in MY & northwards.. practically, you will see sh!t when you wanted to see more when comes to areas like this.. if u wan to do a test, try the 2nd link route during at night and u will be able to see the difference.. if u wish to do further testing, tell me, i bring u to a route in nusa indah.. u will definitely appreciate better lightings.. hehehe..

but if you're talking abt only riding in SG, it's ok to go ahead cus SG roads are all well lighted.. imagine how well lighted it can be until i din know i didn't on my headlights & was fined $30.. lol.. 2 TPs around 100m in front of me told me they noticed i hasn't been switching my headlights for a very long distance.. i told them i'm still able to see them well.. hahahaha..

regarding your radiator fins.. perhaps you can go get the radiator mesh cover to protect them..
