Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

@HanzHummer: No worries, manz... Just kidding only. Lao uncle is not offended or take it to heart. In fact, I am happy with the rear top box. At least, I no need to strapped our "luggage" on the pillion seat with cargo netting, then strapped once more with the rubber cables. Then no enough space, got to use tank bags on our petrol tanks or strapped more "luggage using another cargo netting on our petrol tanks, when go riding somewhere far. We just need to dump everything into the big big rear top box and two side panniers and ready to go. heehee...

Sorry if I offended anyone who has to use or is/are using the "strapping" method.

@dragonforce: hahaha... I agree with you. Bike accessories is a past for me liao. For me now, big box is now meant for buying 17TUC goceries and my girl's milk powder from a TCM Medical Hall from Teck Whye (near to the big temple at Teck Whye)... :cheeky:

Ride safe, everyone. Look out for cars, e.g. MBenz and B177W cars, which will just cut into our lanes from our left or drive out into our lane from our right, WITHOUT signalling at all... I have my fair share of near-misses for the past few weeks... CB to these reckless drivers.

Hi guys, I just wanted to check something about riding Fazer. Previously I ride VFR back in Europe and now shifted to Singapore and looking to buy local bike and of course looking at VFR again but I also quite like the looks of the Fazer. My concern is I may not like the power even for 1000cc. Anyone have experience riding VFR versus Fazer 1000?

In the past I try Fazer 600 and compare with VFR750. It was NO comparison but I never ride Fazer 1000 so dont know if it has more power/torque to match similar feeling of the V4 on a VFR.

Look forward to any experiences you all can share

Please allow me, a newbie, to share with you, Sir.

It just happened that I have ridden a VFR800 before, and is now riding a FZ6N.

Though I am not able to do an exact match of comparison between a VFR and a FZ1 for you, I am able to share my humble opinions of a VFR vs a FZ600 with you.

To begin with, all of us know we can never compare a V4-engine vs an Inline-4.

The torque and "orgasm" from the VFR V-4 engine is nothing compared to a FZ6. Back then, when I was still on my VFR800, at the traffic lights, I ever let some drivers, who tried "to be funny" with me (when I stopped besides their cars, by stepping on their accelator and blowing their car exhaust at me trying to ...), to smell my exhaust smoke from my twin underseat VFR exhaust. The "punch" of the V4-engine the moment you open throttle and pull the Honda beast away from other vehicles, is simply "orgasm".

A Fazer will not be able to provide the same kind of torque and "punch".

What a Fazer can give is the smoothness of the pickup and a smooth increase in speed. I am not sure about a FZ1000, but at least that is what I am enjoying on my FZ6N - the "smoothness"...

The next thing is the sitting posture between the two different rides.

A VFR is more of a racing-bike posture (as you would have already known) while a FZ will be a very upright posture.

Hope my little newbie knowledge will helps.

BTW, I don't think there are brand new VFR800 in the market now.

You can try the "Garage Sales" here. I think I do see someone selling a VFR some time back.

You may also wish to refer to this link here for the new version of the VFR:

So far squeezing through not a problem. Mine is S version so my side mirror is the gauge. If side mirror can pass, no prib at all. Its just a tad slimmer than the h&b. After getting used to it its ok la.

Thanks for your input, indeed, the power of the V4 last time persuaded me to choose the VFR over the Fazer 6. I am just curious whether the 1000cc will be any better or similar. Last month did some touring in Aussie and they gave me a brand new BMW 1200rt as the bike I booked was in repair; the pulling power from the 1200 boxer was disappointing to say the least :-( Maybe I just have to face the facts that after riding a V4, there is no engine that can compare in terms of the punch it packs
